Growing up in her hometown Ivor, Virginia, Tamara was known as the “little girl with the big voice.” Singing was only natural for the granddaughter of the legendary gospel group, The Pritchett Sisters. Tamara grew up on what she refers to as “feel good folk music” – traditional spirituals and revival hymns, blues, funk and soul.
Through her numerous released projects and live performances around the Washington, D.C. area and abroad at some the hottest venues, including the prestigious Jazz Café in London, Tamara has honed her skills and continues to build a solid following.
Oh Well
Tamara Wellons Lyrics

My life is turning around
I’m finding out what it means to be alone
No one to call to say, “I’m home, how was your day?”
Well it wasn't so great
I had you on my mind
and I couldn't find my keys,
not to mention, I forgot my lunch
OH WELL, this is what I started
I might as well finish it
Or I’ll have to deal with it later on, later on!
OH WELL, this is what I started
I might as well finish it
Or I’ll have to deal with it later on, later on!
Why can’t I have my cake and eat it too?
I thought the single life was suppose to be cool
Yeah, it is, except for the days when I’m all alone
I knew days like this would come
but I didn't plan on feeling this way today
OH WELL, this is what I started
I might as well finish it
Or I’ll have to deal with it later on, later on!
OH WELL, this is what I started
I might as well finish it
Or I’ll have to deal with it later on, later on!
Tamara Wellons’s song Oh Well is about dealing with the consequences of one's actions when they didn't really plan to be in that situation. The first verse talks about feeling lonely and not having anyone to call to check in with, after a bad day. The lyrics mention forgetting important things like keys and lunch, which emphasizes the feeling of being disoriented and out of sorts. The phrase "Oh Well" is used throughout the song to express the sentiment of being resigned to one's fate and accepting the negative events that come with it.
The second verse portrays a sense of longing for the “good life” that might have been missed out on or could have been had in a different situation, where one could have their cake and eat it too. The lyrics hint at the feeling that this single life could have been cooler if the person in the song weren’t feeling so lonely. The song emphasizes the idea that as life progresses, the consequences of one's choices may not be what they had hoped for, but it is important to keep moving forward and finish what was started.
Overall, Oh Well is a powerful song with relatable lyrics that deal with the struggles of everyday life. It emphasizes the importance of dealing with consequences and moving forward with resilience, even when the situation isn't ideal.
