The lyrics in his compositions are in formal (fus-ha), Palestinian, or Egyptian dialect, written by himself or by Arab poets. The lyrics, in general, are not directed towards a specific theme; they express an array of human experience that is not defined by time or place: love, challenge, insecurity, boredom, thrill, frustration, etc. Tamer's music absorbs the lyrics, chews them, re-arranges their perspective, and bursts them as expressive originals that are certainly defined by time and place; the current time; Palestine. If the lyrics speak of love and passion, the music speaks of love separated by the Apartheid Wall and passion under siege. This link seems inevitable for any honest musical expression throughout the Palestinian musical scene, even if it is not evident at the first glance.

The opening stanza of Tamer Abu Ghazaleh's "Khabar Ajel" describes free food available in Palestine, from Chile to China, that has been offered for thousands of years, and will continue to be offered until Doomsday. The subsequent stanza makes light of the question of "how" or "where" the food is obtained, describing the free feast as a "dazzling offer" and urging listeners to come and partake in the food's bounty. The third and final verse goes on to satirize the various ways in which Palestinians might find themselves so hungry that they resort to "eating bullets" or other means of desperate self-preservation, before again driving home the call for visitors to Palestine to come and eat their fill.
"Khabar Ajel" is a satirical commentary on the concept of free food as a panacea for the ills of poverty and socio-economic inequality. Through clever wordplay and wry observations on hunger and the desperate lengths to which people will go in order to feed themselves, Abu Ghazaleh mocks the notion of food as a simple solution to the complex problems that face Palestine and other parts of the world.

Or he may order food to his house: bombs with smell and sound and rubber bullets

Or he may wait on the roof for a demonstration on Friday, before you go
بتوصله أكلات عشوائية من فتحاوي بين هالناس
He'll receive random food from Fatah members among the people

Or he may request a dish from the officials, their cooking smells worse than the qat

Their cooking has no preservatives, no understanding. No ingredients

And those who are starving will have a stroke

They'll write 'starvation' on the wall and forget the point

And they'll pray at the jihad headquarters for the authority
وبشي مخيم ضفّاوي يلبس شرطة
And in some Dhefawiyeh camp, they'll wear police uniforms

And if the random food got citizenship:
يحط ببطنه بطيخة صيفية
It would put a summer watermelon in its belly
بيعيش عيشة هنية، بيعيش عيشة عبّاسية، عيشة تكفّي ميّة
It would live in a happy life, a life of Abbas, a life that is enough for a hundred
ولو أمه داعياله فيه من بلد صديقة يتحلى بوثيقة
And if its mother invites it from a friendly country, it would have a passport

The forgotten doors of heaven would open for it
