1) Tamia Washington-Hill (born May 9, 1975 in Windsor, Ontario) is a Canadian R&B singer. She is noted for her spinto mezzo-soprano, a rangy three octaves, capable of both dark contralto depths and angelic soprano highs. Tamia has released numerous albums since her discovery by Quincy Jones in 1995, at the age of 19. Her first three albums, 1998's Tamia, 2000's A Nu Day, and 2004's More, all achieved moderate success on R&B charts and urban radio, but failed to achieve mainstream success.
As a result of the disappointing performances of her albums, Tamia split from her label and released her next record, Between Friends, independently. As of 2019, Tamia has released a further three studio albums through her own label, Plus One Music Group - 2012's Beautiful Surprise, 2015's Love Life, and 2018's Passion Like Fire.
She has been married to the NBA basketball player Grant Hill since 1999, with whom she has two children.
2) Tamia is an experimental/avant-garde vocalist who has collaborated with Pierre Favre.

Don't mean that much to me
Cause I've heard just about everything
That a man could ever say
To me to make me stay, before
Now I need more
So don't bring me roses, bring me the truth
Material things I can buy myself if I really want to
I need something special, I need something new
Just give me you
Spare me the parts (spare me the parts)
When you shower me with gifts
Don't send me cards, no box of chocolates
And don't promise me the world
I'm not that type of girl that needs that to feel complete
So don't bring me roses, bring me the truth
And don't buy me diamonds cause that just won't do
Material things I can buy myself if I really want to
I need something special, I need something new
Just give me you
Just give me you
Things of this world don't mean that much to me
I need your heart and I need honesty
If all you've got is flashiness then please turn around and leave
Don't bring me roses, bring me the truth
Don't buy me diamonds cause that just won't do
Material things I can buy myself if I really want to
I need something special, I need something new
Don't bring me roses, bring me the truth
Don't buy me diamonds cause that just won't do
Material things I can buy myself if I really want to
I need something special, I need something new
Just give me you
Just give me you baby
All I need is you
Give me you
Sexy words don't mean that much to me
Give me you, give me you
The lyrics to Tamia's song "Give Me You" convey the singer's desire for authenticity and true love over material possessions and empty promises. Tamia begins by stating that "sexy words" no longer hold weight for her, as she has heard them all before and they no longer have an impact on her. She emphasizes that she needs something more genuine and real, as opposed to superficial and temporary. Tamia then goes on to reject gifts and promises of the world, stating that these tangible things will not suffice. Instead she desires the heart and honesty of her partner.
Tamia's message is clear - she wants something meaningful that cannot be bought. She is not interested in flashy things, she wants her partner to be genuine and true. "Give Me You" is a reminder that in a world focused on material possessions and wealth, true love and authenticity are what really matter.
