1) Tamia Washington-Hill (born May 9, 1975 in Windsor, Ontario) is a Canadian R&B singer. She is noted for her spinto mezzo-soprano, a rangy three octaves, capable of both dark contralto depths and angelic soprano highs. Tamia has released numerous albums since her discovery by Quincy Jones in 1995, at the age of 19. Her first three albums, 1998's Tamia, 2000's A Nu Day, and 2004's More, all achieved moderate success on R&B charts and urban radio, but failed to achieve mainstream success.
As a result of the disappointing performances of her albums, Tamia split from her label and released her next record, Between Friends, independently. As of 2019, Tamia has released a further three studio albums through her own label, Plus One Music Group - 2012's Beautiful Surprise, 2015's Love Life, and 2018's Passion Like Fire.
She has been married to the NBA basketball player Grant Hill since 1999, with whom she has two children.
2) Tamia is an experimental/avant-garde vocalist who has collaborated with Pierre Favre.

Hey, want to give me a ride, got get to where I'm going real fast,
Ain't got no time to waste, thing here, I'm not about to stay here,
There are children on street, with no food to eat,
I see them there, I said I got to get away,
I'm on my way.
I gotta escape this poverty, I gotta find a new reality,
So light me a cigarette, cruise in a plane,
Take a trip to Paris, maybe Spain, yeah,
Oh I've got to get there, take me away, I'm on my way,
I'm on my way, I'm on my way.
Hey, I'm on my way,
You can stay, I'll leave you here,
You'd be a fool if you like what's here, hey,
I got to get there, hey, hey, hey, I'm on my way,
Many places you can go, no one ever said I never told you so,
I'm on my way.
I've got to get there, got get there, hey, hey, hey,
I'm on my way.
Don't give a damn, don't really care,
Given you all I got I've got to share, yeah,
I'm on my way,
Shut the door, you can lock me out,
I don't give a damn I'm heading south, hey,
I'm on my way, I'm on my way [echoes],
I'm on my way,
I'm on my way.
Tamia's "On My Way" is a powerful song that depicts a woman's determination to leave behind poverty and seek a new reality. The composition begins with an urgent request for a ride to a destination, implying that the singer is eager to get away from her current situation. She emphasizes that she cannot afford to stay in the place she is leaving because there are children without food to eat. The lyrics convey a sense of urgency and desperation, which suggests that the singer's current environment is hostile and that she needs to leave as soon as possible.
The chorus jumps in, and the singer asserts her determination to escape her current situation. She mentions that she needs to find a new reality and that she will not be stopped. The lyrics have a tone of defiance, indicating that the singer has sufficient strength to overcome any obstacles in her path.
The song's last verse affirms the singer's conviction that she will achieve her goals. She finishes by stating that she doesn't care what other people think and that despite any challenges, she is on her way.
