This is the best one I've seen....even out of Rosario and Daphne and Renee....her "Can't sleep in the city of Neon and Chrome..." stanzas were the most touching. It was marvelous.

So far, I've liked every 'Mimi' I've seen so far. (Renee, Rosario(?), Tamyra, and Daphne.) All of their styles are original to the character themselves have created. I have been studying acting, and in my opinion, the character base was created by the writer of the play, but the personality, feelings, and thoughts are created by the actress/actor. I love Tamyra's creation of Mimi. She has done a wonderful, and I hope she continues acting for a long time.

This is fantastic! Until recently I've only seen the movie like a bazillion times) and am so used to Rosario's adorable Mimi. But now I'm watching all the other theater's version, this chick's amazing! Fierce and engaging, and hot! I loved Renee's she had a lot of energy, and a lot of kicks and moves, but I'd say this one's high notes are more fulfilling, and her vocals are better. I love all three though. They all add something different.

I've never been able to say this, but that performance of Mimi was flawless!!! The only thing I've seen that comes close is the movie version (but that's obviously after a few hundred takes). Don't give me the "Daphne is the original, she's the best" crap. She's not. I've never liked her voice all that much, so when someone comes along with a powerhouse voice like Tamyra's, I've got to give credit where credit is due. Well done!!!

I saw Tamyra Gray's performance in Rent in June 2008! She was the best Mimi! She was really nice to her fans too, she tried her best to give out her autographed to anyone that wanted it.
