I love this piece, I've spent hours trying to find others which are similar but never succeeded - even in TD's own back catalogue. Eno comes close but never quite as hauntingly beautiful as this. It's perfect.

I completely agree. I was introduced to electronic music via this very track way back in 1973. It is iconic. There is no other piece like it.

Amazing band and timeless
@Alun49
My only bug bare is that for those of us familiar with the vinyl release, the sounds of children come at the end of Phaedra on side one. Side two opens with Mysterious Semblance.

I love the image which accompanies this piece here. Can anyone tell me what it is and who is the artist?

Used to catch my dad listening to this when he thought no one was about..'70s lol
@LievenVP
This is a WRONG edig since it starts with the final part of Phaedra (the children's voices). The actual tracvk starts with the electric waves on mellotron!

Technically, it's not. Although the children's sample was originally in the first track, the 1995 re-release has a different edit, when they mixed the sample with the second one (https://www.voices-in-the-net.de/phaedra.htm). Personally, I think that the screams fit better with "Mysterious semblance at the strand of nightmares" than the title track - it kind of gives a weird, beautiful contrast with the rest of the piece.
