The lyrics to Tanya St-Val's song "Calin" convey a message of longing and the desire for physical connection in the face of loneliness and distance. The first stanza talks about being alone and wondering when the person being addressed will come back. The second stanza describes the sadness of the present moment and the necessity of holding and caressing each other before saying goodbye. The chorus repeats the need for a "little secure place" where they can feel better and escape from the harshness of life.
The lyrics have different themes such as distance, loneliness, love, and the need for physical touch. The use of repetition in the lyrics, especially in the chorus, emphasizes the importance of these themes, and the singer's desire to hold and be close to the person being addressed. The song has a slow and sensual melody that fits well with the mood of the lyrics.
