I Walk Alone
Tarja Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Put all your angels on the edge
Keep all the roses, I'm not dead
I left a thorn under your bed

I'm never gone

Go tell the world I'm still around
I didn't fly, I'm coming down
you are the wind, the only sound

Whisper to my heart
when hope is torn apart
and no one can save you

I walk alone
Every step I take
I walk alone

My winter storm
Holding me awake
It's never gone
When I walk alone

Go back to sleep forever more
Far from your fools and lock the door
They're all around and they'll make sure

You don't have to see
What I turned out to be
no one can help you

I walk alone
Every step I take
I walk alone

My winter storm
Holding me awake
It's never gone
When I walk alone

waiting up in heaven
I was never far from you
Spinning down I felt your every move

I walk alone
Every step I take
I walk alone

My winter storm
Holding me awake

It's never gone
When I walk alone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Tarja's song "I Walk Alone" reflect a sense of independence and self-reliance. The opening lines, "Put all your angels on the edge, keep all the roses, I'm not dead" suggest that the listener should not worry or mourn for the singer – they are not dead, nor do they need the assistance of angels. The singer then continues on to state that they will walk alone, despite any obstacles that may come their way.

As the song progresses, the repeated chorus "I walk alone, every step I take, I walk alone" emphasizes the singer's desire to assert their independence and make their own way in the world. The lines "My winter storm, holding me awake, it's never gone when I walk alone" suggest that the singer's journey has not been an easy one, but they are willing to face the challenges head-on and persevere.

Towards the end of the song, the lyrics take on a more spiritual tone, as the singer references "waiting up in heaven" and feeling "every move" of their loved ones. This hints at the idea that even though the singer may walk alone, they still feel connected to those they care for on a deeper level.

As someone who discovered NW with Floor, I've had to go back and review NW from the beginning. I can understand if you were imprinted first by Tarja-Tuomas romance but as I see it from my 77 years and passage through a number of romances, each befitting my age, the elations and tragedies were deaths and rebirths.
T&T were young, post juvenile but pre-adult.That comes at 28 or so with Saturn Return.
The music of elves and Tolkeinesque stories are for youthful imaginations about heroes and swords.
For Tuomas to mature he had to be tried in the fire, broken, melted, then recast stronger, like a Japanese sword. Look at Beethoven whose greatest works came out of his intense suffering, but that is what draws out the deepest essence.
Annette was transition and rest.
Tuomas could never have written Human || Nature until he made it through the Dark Woods on his Quest. Now his songs are not just of a man but for mankind, even the end of mankind as in Greatest Story which sees our end, but celebrates us as spirits "We Were Here," and, as in Endlessness, or Shoemaker, we will be gone soon, but Life is ever reborn.
Dead Boy had to die to grow.
Something told them that that last ride was the End of an Era.
It had to be.

His song was always to Wish for the Night which comes toward us like a rising tide.

And in Auri Desert Flower he surrenders gently "All I wanted was to go" as Navigator, he at first Oceanborn in wet salty waters of flesh, but leaves to chart the Sea of Stars...

How blessed we all are to have heard the Edema Ruh.

PPS
Пусть удача тебя никогда не оставит!

is either Beth Gibbons or Hope Sandoval or someone else, but certainly none of the symphonic metal. Lisa Gerrard, Kate Bush etc.
