Jo Joutuu Ilta
Tarja Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Majassa halvimmassakin on sijansa enkeleillä.
The opening line of Tarja's song Jo Joutuu Ilta sets the mood of the song, with the evening falling and the wind blowing over the dark and dreary forest. The next line contrasts this imagery by introducing a humble hut and a bright and magnificent house, which hint at the contrast between the humble and the proud, the rich and the poor. The singer then expresses a longing for a sacred light that could offer comfort in such an environment, but the stars cast a gentle glow only to a limited depth, ultimately failing to provide the much-needed illumination. However, the warm glow of Christmas lights is described as shining brightly everywhere, suggesting the hope and joy that the holiday season brings.
The following lines express a call to the Creator to come and lead the way for those who are lost and in need of guidance. The darkness is said to crumble under the victorious light that leads the way, and even the humblest of abodes are said to welcome angels. The song concludes with the realization that true Christmas peace comes to those who have found faith in something greater than themselves, and that the holiday season offers a chance for all to connect with that higher power.
