Morning Sun
Taste Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Looks like the morning sun that's come to play outside my window
Another night has gone, if something's changed then it does not show
She shines so brightly and make your two eyes blink
But you know she can't be found when the sun begins to sink.

She looks like the morning sun but you must remember
She's as cold as December, I can't remember what I've done.
She looks like the morning sun but you must remember
She's as cold as December, I can't remember what I've done.

Looks like the morning sun that's come to play outside my window
Another night has gone if something's changed then it does not show.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Taste's song Morning Sun are quite complex, alluding to the idea that appearances can be deceiving. The first verse describes a beautiful morning sun shining outside the singer's window, but also hints at the idea that something has not changed. The sun appears to be a source of happiness and warmth, however, despite all of its beauty, it is transient, and eventually disappears. It represents the feeling of fleeting happiness that can evaporate just as easily as it came.

The chorus repeats the phrase "She looks like the morning sun" and adds the line "but you must remember, she's as cold as December, I can't remember what I've done." This line serves to reinforce the idea that things are not always as they seem. The woman the singer is referring to may appear to be warm and kind, but in reality, she is cold and distant, much like the month of December. The line "I can't remember what I've done" could either suggest that the singer cannot remember why he is feeling this way or that he has done something to cause the woman's coldness.

Overall, the song Morning Sun is an introspective look at the ways in which we can be deceived by appearances. It suggests that we must look beyond surface-level beauty to truly understand the people and situations in our lives. The imagery of the morning sun is used as a metaphor for happiness and the fleeting nature of life itself.

Love Rory's hair flip at the beginning.🥰

Taste knocked Cream into a cocked hat . Along with Tony McPhee and the Groundhogs one of the greatest three piece Blues /Rock bands . The Hogs came out with the classic "Thank Christ "and "Split ", Taste with their classics "Taste" and" On The Boards ." Blues and Rock does,nt come any better . Live there was no beating either band , Rory the greatest and Tony up there as one of the best and underrated . They summed up what the early '70's were all about . Great times .

Idiotic comment about Cream - grow up. Groundhogs were good, but were never a top tier band.

@clouddog2393

@Brian Hammer So someone whose opinion you disagree with is idiotic and needs to grow up . You are arrogant and insulting Brian . It,s you who needs to grow up .

@clouddog2393

@Brian Hammer Idiotic and l should grow up because you disagree with me . You,re the one who should grow up Bri old chap !

John, as a 15 year old in 69, I thought Taste and the Hogs were tops, but I loved Cream and Zepp too. Tony (TS) McFee is my hero, back in the day I saw them live at the Chesford Grange near Leamington Spa great voice, great guitarist. So so underrated. But I don't care I rate them and will to my dying day.

What nonsense. Cream were the first so called Supergroup. Clapton said they played blues like a jazz band.I've seen all 3 individually and they were all brilliant in their way but even better as Cream. I also saw the Groundhogs several times and Taste at the legendary Eel Pie Island. Taste were a very good band and Rory was a fine guitarist but to say that they knocked Cream into a cocked hat is risible. Like saying that the Stones were the greatest band ever when The Beatles were always in a league of their own.

Had the good fortune to see Blind Faith in Seattle. Little did I know there'd be a support band by the name of Taste appearing.
One minute into their set, my jaw dropped! I was astounded!! Could not believe what I was witnessing.
Blind Faith should have been the opener.
Rory's solo career featured great musicians, but the chemistry of Taste was unparalleled.

@11celtics11

Chemistry? There's a reason Rory ditched those guys and refused to perform any taste songs after they disbanded.

@malcolmhunt2904

Saw them live in Norwich, late 60's, just streets ahead of the rest, Rory was just phenomenal.
