I realised this track sounds amazing when played on 1.1x speed. It sounds just like it used to sound in those sets back in the days, when the tempo had to match previously played faster-paced tracks.

I interviewed these guys way back then in Eindhoven in the old Effenaar for a show I did on local radio.. They told me that besides the 303 there is a Juno 106 and obviously a 909 in it.

I remember being in Eastern bloc records Manchester and this was playing. When the 303 kicked in it sent a shiver down my spine. I then went over and bought it. What a tune.

This one is good up until 6:12 when the TB303 starts screeching. There's of course nothing wrong with TB303 but the way its programmed here does not fit this track and the riff did not stand the test of time.

I think the whole intention behind using that 303 pattern is that it's not supposed to fit the track. It's supposed to be dissonant and jarring. It even uses a tritone into fifth interval which is the most infamous example of dissonance in music theory. And the fact that it never returns to the soothing harmonies from the beginning of the track leaves the listener with a sense of restlessness and discomfort instead of providing a comforting resolution. So yes, it doesn't fit the track, but it's not supposed to fit. It's supposed to disrupt.
