Stop
Tate Howard Lyrics

Stop, if you keep it up I'm gonna go through floor
Never knew how good love could be
Love's gonna make a fool of me
Everything is hazy
One more kiss could drive me crazy
Stop, hold it just a minute, ‘cause I got to catch my breath
Thought I was the captain of my ship
But your love has made me lose my grip
Everything is hazy
One more kiss could drive me crazy
I never knew how good a love could be
Love's gonna make a fool of me
Everything is hazy
One more kiss could drive me crazy
Stop, I think you're trying to take advantage of poor ol' me
Stop, when you touch my hand I'm helpless as I can be
Tell me baby, what are you made of?
What you do to me sure must be made of love
Everything is hazy
One more kiss could drive me crazy
Yes, it will
Stop, stop, stop
The lyrics to Tate Howard's song "Stop" reflect the feeling of being overwhelmed by love. It begins by describing the singer's inability to continue enduring the intensity of the love they are experiencing. They are at their limit, and if their partner continues to push them, they will break. The singer is surprised by how overwhelmingly good love can be and acknowledges that it is making a fool of them. They can no longer see things clearly, and one more kiss could push them over the edge into madness.
The second verse starts by the singer trying to catch their breath, showing how love has taken them by surprise. They thought they were in control of their life, but love has brought them to their knees. They repeat the idea that everything is hazy, highlighting the confusion and disorientation they feel. They acknowledge that their partner might be taking advantage of them, but they are helpless when they are touched. They question what their partner is made of, acknowledging that what they are feeling is undoubtedly love.
In conclusion, the lyrics to "Stop" express the experience of losing control when one falls deeply in love, feeling overwhelmed and confused by the intensity of new feelings.

Howard Tate-Stop issued in 1968. This is awesome! It was covered by The James Gang in 1969 on there Yer Album and later performed live at the Fillmore by Jimi Hendrix and his Band of Gypsys. It is truly an historic recording by a gifted vocalist.
