These Hands
Taylor Ray Holbrook Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Saturday night, seein' you out
Pulling you in, you lookin' around
The look in your eyes, I've already found
Why your so on edge, I'm figuring out
What makes you tick, what makes you hot
What did he throw in the boat to make it rock?
So many questions on why and why not
But on second thought

These hands were made to hold you
Now I wanna get to showin' you
Can't believe the things you've been through issues trusted him to stick with you
Now close your eyes while I kiss you 'cause I know these hands were made to hold you
Hold you

Baby I'm down for takin' it slow
We'll go as fast as you wanna go
And when the times right,
And you feel like, suga let me know
What did he say? What did he do?
Why don't you put it on me,
What he put you through
Tell me your story
Forget it, let's get on to me and you

And these hands that wanna hold you
And I wanna get to showin' you
Can't believe the things you've been through issues trusted him to stick with you
Now close your eyes while I kiss you 'cause I know these hands were made to hold you
Hold you

These hands that wanna hold you
And I wanna get to showin' you
Can't believe the things you've been through issues trusted him to stick with you
Now close your eyes while I kiss you 'cause I know these hands were made to hold you
These hands were made to hold you

These hands were made to hold you
These hands were made to hold you
These hands were made to hold you

Overall Meaning

In Taylor Ray Holbrook's "These Hands," the singer is out on a Saturday night and sees someone he's interested in. He notices that she seems on edge and he wants to figure out why. He asks her about her past relationship and encourages her to forget it and focus on them. He's reassuring her that he's here for her, and he wants to take things slow and let her set the pace. He tells her that his hands were made to hold her and he wants to show her that he is trustworthy and there for her. The repeated chorus emphasizes that his hands are made to hold her, and he wants to be the one she trusts and turns to whenever she needs support.

brotha, this song explains everything a female needs to know. domestic violence isn't a joke. I was in a relationship with someone that was put through that, and it was so hard for her to trust and be happy. if only I could have shown her this song before she walked out and left because of the stuff she's been through.

Keep on chasing your dreams brotha, you'll make wherever you want whenever you sing the truth!!

โ€œWhat did he say, what did he do, why donโ€™t you put it on me what he put you through?โ€
this lyric hits me the hardest, someone actually WANTS to hear my story. its empowering especially for young girls like me who were in relationships with violent partners from as young as 14. thank you
