Glitch
Taylor Swift Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You don't live in my part of town, but maybe I'll see you out some weekend
Depending on what kind of mood and situationship I'm in
And what's in my system
I think there's been a glitch, ah-yeah
Five seconds later, I'm fastenin' myself to you with a stitch, ah-yeah
And I'm not even sorry, nights are so starry, blood moon lit
I think there's been a glitch, ah-yeah
Uh-huh
I was supposed to sweat you out
In search of glorious happenings of happenstance on someone else's playground
But it's been two-thousand-one-hundred-ninety days of our love blackout
(Our love is blacking out)
The system's breaking down
(The system's breaking down)
I think there's been a glitch, ah-yeah
Five seconds later, I'm fastenin' myself to you with a stitch, ah-yeah
And I'm not even sorry, nights are so starry, blood moon lit
It must be counterfeit
I think there's been a glitch, ah-yeah
Uh-huh
A brief interruption, a slight malfunction
I'd go back to wanting dudes who give nothing
I thought we had no chance
And that's romance, let's dance
Glitch, ah-yeah
Five seconds later, I'm fastenin' myself to you with a stitch, ah-yeah
And I'm not even sorry, nights are so starry, blood moon lit (blood moon lit)
It must be counterfeit (it must be counterfeit)
I think there's been a glitch, ah-yeah
Uh-huh
In this song, Taylor Swift addresses the unpredictable nature of falling in love. At the beginning of the song, she sets the scene for a casual relationship, stating that she and the other person were only supposed to be friends, and that their interactions were dependent on her mood and state of mind. However, things take a turn when she claims that there has been a "glitch," and suddenly they are more deeply connected. Taylor Swift presents this shift as something outside of her control, describing herself as "fastening" herself to the other person "with a stitch." She seems to question the authenticity of this new connection, describing it as "counterfeit."
Later in the song, Swift reflects on how she originally thought there was no chance for a romantic relationship between herself and the other person. She expresses surprise at the unexpected turn of events, reveling in the magic of the night and the "starry" skies. The repeated phrase "uh-huh" throughout the song could be interpreted as a sign of her doubt or disbelief in the situation, or perhaps as a verbal shrug of her shoulders at the unpredictability of love and relationships. Overall, the lyrics of "Glitch" portray the confusing, messy, and thrilling experience of falling in love unexpectedly.

Glitch is an underrated track. It seems that Taylor isn’t afraid of admitting that it’s easy for her to get attached to someone despite knowing of such consequences that could cause some serious damage in the long run. It’s raw, beautiful, and transparent, much like what Taylor Swift is.
@Sorellamistica
I love this vibe
@artor1309

It sounds like Sunflower by Post Malone to me. Like vibey/sensual idk
@floraflowergarden
I'm pretty sure even Taylor wasn't thinking this deep when she was writing this 😯
@lunaloutfy
The lofi vibes I’m getting in this one makes me understand why Taylor chose this song to be part of the 3am edition because I remember being obsessed with listening to lofi music at this time of night. It’s just the perfect kind of music for when it’s so dark out and you’re all alone with your thoughts.

This one would’ve been a world wide hit. It reminds me of Sunflower by Post Malone. Almost all of the 3am tracts are better than the rest of the album. I wish it was a separate album of itself so it would be more appreciated.

@@David.124 I agree that most of the 3am songs are better than the rest.
