Bad Blood
Taylor Swift (feat. Kendrick Lamar) Lyrics

'Cause baby now we got bad blood
You know it used to be mad love
So take a look at what you've done (uh, uh)
'Cause baby now we got bad blood (uh)

Hey, I can't take it back, look where I'm at
We was OG like D.O.C., remember that? (Remember that?)
My TLC was quite OD, ID my facts (ID my)
Now POV of you and me, similar Iraq
I don't hate you, but I hate to critique, overrate you
These beats of a dark heart, use basslines to replace you
Take time and erase you, love don't hear no more
No, I don't fear no more
Better yet, respect ain't quite sincere no more

Oh, it's so sad to
Think about the good times
You and I

'Cause, baby, now we've got bad blood
You know it used to be mad love
So take a look what you've done
'Cause, baby, now we've got bad blood (hey)
Now we've got problems
And I don't think we can solve 'em (uh)
You made a really deep cut (uh)
And, baby, now we've got bad blood (hey)

Hey, remember when you tried to write me off? (Ah-ah)
Remember when you thought I'd take a loss?
Don't you remember? You thought that I would need ya
Follow procedure, remember? Oh, wait, you got amnesia
It was my season for battle wounds
Battle scars, body bumped, bruised
Stabbed in the back, brimstone, fire jumping through
Still, all my life, I got money and power
And you gotta live with the bad blood now

Oh, it's so sad to
Think about the good times
You and I

'Cause, baby, now we've got bad blood
You know it used to be mad love
So take a look what you've done
'Cause, baby, now we've got bad blood (hey)
Now we've got problems
And I don't think we can solve 'em
You made a really deep cut
And, baby, now we've got bad blood (hey)

Band-aids don't fix bullet holes
You say sorry just for show
If you live like that, you live with ghosts
(You forgive, you forget, but you never let it go)
Band-aids don't fix bullet holes
You say sorry just for show
If you live like that, you live with ghosts (mm)
If you love like that, blood runs cold

'Cause, baby, now we've got bad blood
You know it used to be mad love
So take a look what you've done
'Cause, baby, now we've got bad blood (hey) (bad blood)
Now we've got problems
And I don't think we can solve 'em (think we can solve 'em)
You made a really deep cut
And, baby, now we've got bad blood

('Cause now we've got bad blood) 'cause, baby, now we've got bad blood
You know it used to be mad love
So take a look what you've done (look what you've done)
'Cause, baby, now we've got bad blood (hey)
Now we've got problems
And I don't think we can solve 'em

You made a really deep cut
And, baby, now we've got bad blood (hey)

Overall Meaning

The song Bad Blood by Taylor Swift featuring Kendrick Lamar tells the story of a relationship that has soured and turned into a bitter feud between two former friends. The chorus "Cause baby now we got bad blood, you know it used to be mad love, So take a look at what you've done" illustrates how the relationship has disintegrated and become dominated by negative feelings such as anger, jealousy, and resentment. The verses from Lamar’s perspective depict him as wounded and angry at the betrayal he has experienced. He reflects on the past good times between them, but now the bad blood is too much to bear.

The song highlights how a person's actions can have a profound impact on their relationships, and once the damage is done, it can be challenging to repair the harm. The lyrics "Band-Aids don't fix bullet holes, You say sorry just for show" illustrate that superficial apologies and gestures cannot fix the damage done. The feud is irreversible, and the relationship cannot be salvaged.

Overall, Bad Blood is a powerful and emotional reflection of how relationships can break down, how people sometimes hold onto grudges and negative feelings, and how difficult it can be to move on once the damage has been done.

Anyone else feel like her voice and lyrics are even clearer than the original? Love that she is re-recording these.

@low_keymadison

Same!!!!

@abneryates4304

voice and lyrics don't need to be clearer. the instrumental on this one is slightly worse than the original. as is the case with all her re-releases.

@bucketheadfacts3501

I think I'm just now realizing how immature some of these lyrics are and how the vibe of a lot of her songs were in 1989. The fact that her voice sounds way more mature than in the original tracks it's very jarring like it makes the immaturity of back then more obvious while making the maturity of now more obvious as well. It might take a few listens but so far I don't know if I like it? Tho it could just be my brain preferring the nostalgia of the first one over anything else. 😅
