His tenth studio album, K.O.D., was released October 27, 2009. He has spent his illustrious career making sure heโs been grinding harder than the average rapper, and is the best selling artist out of his hometown. With nine solo albums and two powerhouse collaboration projects under his belt, the Kansas City MCโs flow is sharper and slicker than itโs ever been.
โThis is another roller coaster ride,โ explains TECH N9NE about the release. โWhen it came time for Sickology 101, I knew I wanted to do a collabo album based on the study of being sick. Itโs a beginnerโs course for people who donโt know how to be sick lyrically or how to choose sick beats. It all starts with beats because they tell me exactly what to do.โ Epic beats from YoungFyre, Wyshmaster, Seven and Matic Lee set the stage for TECH N9NE to weave his introspective and sometimes roguish lyrics around.
Sickology 101 brims with stellar appearances from lyrical heavyweights. On the opening title track, TECH N9NE slays alongside Chino XL and Crooked I, pulling listeners into the Hip-Hop classroom for a lesson in murdering a beat. Itโs a twisted vision forged on undeniable grooves and quixotic wordplay.
The single, โNothin,โโ is an inspiring, honest anthem that features Messy Marv and Big Scoob. Meanwhile, on โMidwest Choppers 2,โ TECH N9NE and Krayzie Bone cruise to the depths of darkness. โKrayzie Bone came through and murdered it,โ says TECH N9NE. โI modeled the song after movies. When you do a sequel, there has to be a bigger body count and more people have to die. โMidwest Choppers 2โ is Autobahn-style. It makes you want to speed.โ
TECH N9NEโs inimitable flow and rhyming take center stage on solo tracks, including the haunting, hypnotic โRed Nose.โ He doesnโt pull any punches on the vitriolic, YoungFyre-produced โBlown Away,โ either. Itโs an open letter to several prominent urban artists who refused to play before him at radio festivals despite his massive concert draw.
With hits like โIโm A Playa,โ โCaribou Louโ (which boasts 7.2 million MySpace plays), โRiotmaker,โ โLike Yeahโ and โEverybody Move,โ itโs no wonder TECH N9NE counts a total of over 4.5 million YouTube video plays and an average of 40,000 MySpace visitors each day. His success knows no limits. The July 2008 release, Killer, debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart and Number 12 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. He did it all on his own. There was no major label โ just TECH N9NEโs own record company, Strange Music. TECH N9NEโs tracks have appeared in films like Gang Related and Alpha Dog as well as various TV shows, and he recently made his motion picture debut in The Life of Lucky Cucumber alongside members of MTVโs โJackassโ crew.
It hasnโt been an easy road, but TECH N9NE soldiers on and heโll never stop. โThey call me devil worshipper because Iโm different. I give you music for my core. Theyโre the people that put me over the million mark. I raise my middle finger to everybody who judges me because my core audience is there for me. They will always love me, but Iโm trying to reach others, too. Itโs not over. My music is supposed to be for everybody, but some people just donโt get it. This album is the result; swallow it. Itโs middle finger music, all-day and all-night.โ
TECH N9NE never stops bringing that music directly to his fans, constantly reinforcing his status as one of the hardest-touring rap acts in the business. In 2008, TECH N9NE performed over 200 shows and he doesnโt show any signs of slowing down in 2009. In April, TECH will head out in support of Sickology 101 and spend two months on the road, performing live for his rabid fans.
Sickology 101 is prepping the world for TECH N9NEโs next masterpiece, K.O.D. โI want people to know that Iโm getting better and better and Iโm a machine. I do these collabo albums to give the fans more. This is a bridge record to K.O.D. Itโs the farewell to the TECH N9NE youโve known lately. Itโs getting darker. A lot of people might not be able to go to the place Iโm going, but this place is my specialty.โ
โI donโt need people to kiss my hand,โ assures TECH N9NE. โIโm not trippinโ on status, and Iโm not a narcissist when it comes to rap. Itโs my heart and soul pouring onto the paper. I write my life and I canโt hold back. This is what I know.โ

By the way the way that I talk you can guess where I'm from
Kansas City, yeah! Kansas City, yeah!
Kansas City, Kansas City, Kansas City
Hell yeah
I was born in Wayne Minor, projects
904 Michigan Imma grow kickin' them rhymes and flow quick 'n in time
That's what made N9ner progess
This is history Young Rich and Dun-deala team up with Mr. T
Even though none of our names are listed, we grew up with
Ollie, Ollie, Ollie, Ollie Gates
And I got all my jolly and gaudiness from Maudie Yates
City staple like "Go Chicken Go" get dough, the most dickin' flow
When I'm rollin' all around the globe I be fo' sure missin' MO'
In my city man I really love the fitties though they gritty
How bad is talkin' down like we itty-bitty, pretty
You better be, wrapped up when the weather freeze
Threat in the dead of summer, super sweat on your head degrees let it free
That is me on the home I put cheddar cheese
Tech'll be reppin' definitely I betcha I never leave
Kansas City! (Born) Kansas City! (Love)
Kansas City, Kansas City, Kansas City (hell yeah)
We bring the energy, the electricity to volts
We the Kansas City hearbeat, we Kansas City pulse
This past post day, Jordan got us crispy
Truce was a slave owner Google up that history
Kansas Citian's out of town, root hearted
In Dallas at Wizards in Atlanta at U-Bar
In my blue car, rollin' with that merch on me
I'm K.C. Till I'm 6 in the dirt homie
Kansas City it'll make you or break you
Shortcut through the hood 7-1 straight through
Stay true to the turf rep it like Shane Ray
Tatted on his back with the towel in his game day
Strange laid the foundation landmark major factor
Name's raised sky high now they raise the rafters (raise the rafters)
A victory for our hometown if they didn't know me (who's The Popper?)
Now they know me
Kansas City! Kansas City!
Kansas City, Kansas City, Kansas City
That's right
Uh K.C.'s the town, home of the go-getters
I've been stackin' for years we gettin' more skrilla
Chiefs on Sunday, we tailgate and root for em
I'm like a young Andy Reid that's how I move on em
Coastin' through town, stayin' mostly through the town
Push a foreign through the turf I be floatin' through the town
Yeah, when a deal go down I'm probably in on it
We like the Royals we hustle until we win
We need some goggles all these champagne bottles poppin'
Campaignin' with Tech N9ne and the homie Popper
K.c. Brims and shirts you know we stay reppin'
Peachtree or Niece's for a big breakfast
Club Empire standin' on the club sofas
Rockin' fresh Force Ones like they some Gucci loafers
Blockstars and rockstars like the Doobie Brothers
Holla at our city come on go head and say it for us
Kansas City! Kansas City!
Kansas City, Kansas City, Kansas City
Kansas City! Kansas City!
Kansas City, Kansas City, Kansas City
Kansas City! Kansas City!
Kansas City, Kansas City, Kansas City
Kansas City! Kansas City!
Kansas City, Kansas City, Kansas City
