I Like You
Ted and Gooch Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You treat me like a Dead Bod
You treat me like I'm Dead Bod

You walked right in my room and
Kick off your stinky shoes
You smile just for a while then
Ya criticised my style
I once picked you up and
I nursed you back to health
You've stolen ma heart but
You kept it on your shelf
I turned around and you threw my love away
Before you go there's one thing I would say

You treat me like a Dead Bod
You treat me like I'm Dead Bod

The hardest thing I do
Is putting up with you
The nicest thing you say
Is put that thing away

I'm gonna paint it on every wall in town
They're gonna know you're the
Meanest girl around
You had a put down for everything I said
Once I was low you just kicked me in the head

You treat me like a Dead Bod
You treat me like I'm Dead Bod

I'm gonna paint it on every wall in town

They're gonna know you're the
Meanest girl around.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ted and Gooch's "I Like You" touch upon themes of betrayal, heartbreak, and disappointment. The first two lines, "You treat me like a dead bod / You treat me like I'm dead bod," suggest a sense of abandonment or neglect. The repetition of this statement emphasizes the singer's feeling of being disregarded or unwanted. The following lines describe a scene in which the singer's love interest enters their room uninvited, seemingly disrespecting their personal space, then proceeds to criticize their appearance or mannerisms. The contrast between the singer's former act of nurturing their love interest back to health and the love interest's present disregard for their feelings underscores the sense of betrayal the singer feels.

The chorus, "The hardest thing I do / Is putting up with you / The nicest thing you say / Is put that thing away," reveals the singer's frustration and disappointment with their love interest's behavior. The love interest's dismissive or condescending words and actions make it difficult for the singer to maintain a positive relationship with them. The lines, "I'm gonna paint it on every wall in town / They're gonna know you're the meanest girl around," express a feeling of anger or resentment towards the love interest for their mistreatment. The repeated refrain of "You treat me like a dead bod" reinforces the singer's sense of being unappreciated or disregarded.

In conclusion, "I Like You" by Ted and Gooch paints a picture of a toxic relationship in which one party feels neglected and betrayed by the other's dismissive or condescending behavior.

Sam Lloyd had brain cancer.
Truly sad that he passed, especially since his wife delivered their first child not long before he passed.
He was my third favorite character after Cox and Janitor..
Some may not know, but Sam was actor Christopher Lloyds nephew.
Rest easy Sam...and thanks
