Many have heard him on Lecrae’s debut album “Real Talk”, and on the 116 Clique Compilation album with tracks like Represent, In Ya Hood, and Impressed, but now with 19 tracks dedicated to unleashing what’s been on this brother’s heart you can expect a serious album.
“Kingdom People to me is a look into the practical side of walking out our Christian faith. From a testimonial and very introspective view, I desire to encourage and challenge us, through my own experiences and struggles which alot of believers also struggle with, to stand firm in our faith. I pray this album becomes more than another disc in your hip hop collection, but a tool that will be utilized fully by the Lord!”
With roots down in Houston, TX, Tedashii brings a distinct flavor you won’t find anywhere else. Southern bangers like “Houston We Have a Problem”, and introspective tracks like “This Song’s For You”, Kingdom People is an album that hits from all angles. Featuring production by Lecrae, Tony Stone, J.R., Mac, and others, plus guest spots by Flame, Lecrae, Trip Lee, J.R., Cam, and others, you want to make sure that you have copy in rotation.
Reverse
Tedashii Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When justice storms, and darkness flees, I'm reminded on that day
[Repeat: x3]
The last shall be first, the first shall be last
The last shall be and everything's in reverse
Livin' with the end in mind, something like the president
Believe in Him, that's the last thing I'd ever chose
Gimme that red top, that sixty seven Chevy my cousin drove on them coldest
Life is short, I hope I make it down the road
But where I'm from hope was that girl who flirted, flaunted
You never got it, but she was the one you always wanted
How good a picture perfect image front and tell you lies
My version of perversion did it every day alive
And man that burden got me hurtin' lookin' for some answers
Endless searchin' just leave you burnin', Jo Jo Dancer
But mine ended when I saw the Lord would choose to hang
That type of love got me coming back, call it boomerang
In the first verse of Tedashii's song Reverse, he poses a question about why it seems that the weaker ones in society are disappearing while the monster, or the more powerful ones, are becoming even taller. He then alludes to a future day when justice will be swift and darkness will be forced to flee. This day also reminds him of the saying "the last shall be first," which emphasizes the theme of reversal that runs throughout the song.
In the second verse, Tedashii shares his personal journey of trying to live in the present moment and own every experience but realizing that it's not a sustainable way of life. He then makes the decision to believe in God, which goes against the desires of his flesh. He reminisces about simpler times when he was more interested in superficial things like cars, and he contrasts that with the realization that life can be short and uncertain. He also opens up about the burden of living a life filled with perversion and how it eventually led him to search for answers that were not easily found. However, his search ended when he saw the ultimate act of love: Jesus willingly choosing to die on the cross for humanity's wrongdoings.
The song Reverse seeks to convey the message that what may seem important in life is actually quite insignificant, and what may appear weak is in fact what will ultimately prevail. It invites listeners to contemplate their own beliefs and positions and consider making a change.
