All talk all day
Down the west highway
Liar burning in my neighborhood
All that I say but it never would
[?] got to move away
I didn't believe him
That I'm gonna stay
Don't wanna turn to that place there too high
Deal me a seat
I've waited all this time

When starts highland
Starts that moving in
Storm will rise up
No where land this way
Formal rising, hotels coming back

You can't deny it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Tedeschi Trucks Band's "The Storm" seem to touch on themes of restlessness, truth-telling, and the inevitability of change. The song opens with the singer longing for an escape, perhaps from a monotonous routine or from a figurative "liar burning" in their neighborhood. The phrase "all talk all day/ down the west highway" could suggest a desire to do something other than talk all day, but to move and explore instead. The singer mentions that they've been waiting for something, but it's unclear what exactly they're waiting for. It could be a release from their current circumstances or a chance to start fresh somewhere new.

In the second verse, the lyrics become more cryptic. The images of highland and storm rising suggest something ominous on the horizon, but it's unclear what the storm could represent. It could be anything from a literal weather event to a metaphorical upheaval in the singer's life. The line "formal rising, hotels coming back" is also somewhat mysterious, but it could be interpreted as a sign of change or development in the area. Despite the uncertainty and potential danger, the singer seems resolute in moving forward: "you can't deny it/ [?] at me."

Overall, the lyrics to "The Storm" offer a blend of longing, restlessness, and potential danger. The song can be interpreted in a variety of ways, but it seems to center on the idea of needing to leave behind something old and embrace the unknown.

I've seen this Band MANY times and I'm ALWAYS blown away with the musicianship and even their interpretation of covers.
What more can I say.
It was once said and sung, "Long Live Rock" and "Hey, Hey, My, My, Rock And Roll Will Never Die"
In my heart I know thats true.
I just wish Rock hadn't taken such a strange left turn.
I felt the same way and one day I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan back in the Summer of '83.
Then I heard Mr. Trucks.
Derek renewed my musical soul.
I'm lookin forward to the next GREAT ONE.
Anyway, love this Band, love this song.
I recommend people here give Doyle Bramhall II a listen.
Songs like, 'What You Gonna Do', 'So You Want It To Rain', 'Thin Dream', 'Jealous Sky', and live version(s) of 'Outside Women Blues', and 'Cry'.

Derek Trucks could not be more authentic, brilliant and bold. Incredible vocals by Susan Tedeschi and just all-time fantastic groove laid down by the Tedeschi Trucks Band. The world is as cruel as it's ever been but this music makes me feel good to be alive. Rock on, Tedeschi Trucks Band!

You cannot listen to this and not be affected on a deeper level. ...Music is a wonder of the world and beyond thought as well. How good is that? Oh my golden honey....

Great song. Her voice is awesome.

If ancient redwoods could sing, they would sound like Susan Tedeschi. Eternal and earthy, deep roots soaked and nourished in wisdom. What a voice.

Derek brings the tempest, all chaos and thunder, a ferocious force of nature that would uproot everything in its path if it could. They are perfectly balanced.

MUSIC IS NOT DEAD.
