I Can't Stand It
Telepathe Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can’t
stand to watch this
go way down
without ifs
to wait for
our mindslocked in jars
with dyinglines
we’ll makeit forth
forward ahead
you thoughtwe’d sendyou
we couldgo a motel
without our minds
locked up like “svines”/swine(?)
in leitourgia
behind our eyes
from afar
from afar
from afar
we’re
running outof time
we’re
running with our minds
we’re
running outof time
we’re
running with our minds
oh you know we couldbe so much better
oh you know we couldbe so much better
oh you know we couldbe so much better
I can’t
stand to watch this
go way down
without ifs
to wait for
our mindslocked in jars
with dyinglines
we’ll makeit forth
forward ahead
you thoughtwe’d sendyou
we’re
running outof time
we’re
running with our minds
we’re
running outof time
we’re
running with our minds
oh you know we couldbe so much better
oh you know we couldbe so much better
oh you know we couldbe so much better
I can’t
stand to watch this
go way down
without ifs
to wait for
our mindslocked in jars
with dyinglines
we’ll makeit forth

forward ahead
we thoughtwe’d sendyou

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Telepathe’s song “I Can’t Stand It” paint a vivid picture of a world on the brink of collapse. The singer, whoever that may be, cannot bear to watch the world go down without an effort to save it. They express this sentiment by saying, “I can’t stand to watch this go way down without ifs to wait for.” The ifs here could refer to hope or a plan of action, but regardless, the singer cannot stand the idea of doing nothing while the world crumbles around them.

The mention of “minds locked in jars with dying lines” is a powerful metaphor for the loss of creativity and freedom in a world that is falling apart. The jars in this metaphor could represent the confines of society or even the limitations of one’s own mind. The dying lines could be a reference to fading inspiration or the end of life itself. Despite these struggles, the singer wants to push forward and make it through the tough times, as they say, “we’ll make it forth, forward ahead.”

The repeated line “oh you know we could be so much better” highlights the potential for a brighter future despite the challenges faced in the present. Overall, the lyrics of “I Can’t Stand It” capture a sense of urgency and a desire for change in a world that is in need of saving.

It’s 23 now, I listened to this song on repeat back when I was 14, I always come back to it for nostalgia. Thank you for this masterpiece.

This song played when I was in the back of my jeep with my girlfriend who would become my fiancée later on in life. We weren't making love or anything it was like teenage love where we would make out and make promises that we would be together forever. We aren't together anymore and I miss her from time to time. I hope she's okay. But anyway, this song gives me some good vibes

what a good band.

Reminds me of my crush from long time ago - 2009, to be precise. It was more like something between actual love and a crush but never meant to happen. So, when I hear this, I remember that time anf that fire. Killer song

@MoonAlongMyHead

This is too much for me. It makes me feel I can forgive-- something. I can't explain it. It makes me feel calm as well. I'm glad that there are things like this song in this world.

@markalexander9396

there was an earlier version that may or may not have been up on Myspace. Vocals were pretty much the same, but it had this wash of guitar that I like better than this final cut. Still... gorgeous.

@whatsupadri

I demanded this song to play for my quinceañera waltz instead of the traditional Mexican vals song, I'm 23 now and I have no regrets about it ! Anyways, I obviously still listen to this song and we're in 2022

@sonny5082

this makes me think of my early childhood so much
