Reaching Tempestt´s roots we have to return to the 90´s musical scene of São Paulo. At that time, names like Angra and Shaaman were beginnig to be heard. Brazil was not inserted in the agenda of great international concerts yet and the Internet was only for few people at that time. Heavy rock was restricted only to some clubs and maybe some big bands that eventually made concerts. Despite the difficulties many great bands and good musicians started to appear and Tempestt is one of them. They started in the middle of 1.999 playing covers. Journey, Kansas, Europe, Queen, Bon Jovi and Dream Theater, were some of it. The form that Tempestt played those songs, starts to bring more and more fans. Soon, Tempestt was playing with great musicians, like Billy Sheehan and was chosen as Jeff Scott Soto´s band in his concerts in Brazil. A little later, the band figured out that they also could start to write their own songs. On this debut album, it is easy to see the individual talent of each musician and how the years of union as a band were important to them. Listening just to a few songs is possible to figure that the band is prepared and ready to be part of the international hard/heavy scenario.

Bring 'Em On
Tempestt Lyrics

Faithless words
The truth beyond the smile
Envy minds
I needed no one
To help me stand
I was given a hand
I signed up to sell my soul
And now I have to pay back
The things I've never asked for
I can feel my hand crushin' their bones
I'm tired of this so bring 'em on
Promises
Kindness
They lead me to the way they are
Sleepless fear
A lake of tears
Reflects an empty form without beliefs
They're blocking the way
And now I have to pay back
The things I've never asked for
I can feel my hand crushin' their bones
I'm tired of this so bring 'em on
I signed to sell my soul
And now I have to pay back
The things I've never asked for
They're blocking the way
And now I have to pay back
In the way they're always asked for
The lyrics of Bring 'em On by Tempestt seem to talk about the struggles of the singer in a situation where they feel like they have sold their soul or made some sort of deal in exchange for something they wanted. The first stanza describes a situation where the singer is surrounded by deceitful and envious people who hide their true feelings behind smiles and faithless words. The second stanza reveals that the singer did not need anyone's help to stand up initially but was eventually given a hand by people who made them bleed. This could be a metaphor for certain opportunities that came at a cost to the singer.
The third and fourth stanzas mention promises and kindness that led the singer to a particular path or situation that caused sleepless fear and a lake of tears. The singer now feels blocked and burdened by the things they never asked for and have to pay back in the way they're always asked for. The chorus, "I can feel my hand crushin' their bones, I'm tired of this so bring 'em on," expresses the singer's frustration and desire to confront those who are blocking their path and making them pay for something they never asked for. This song could be interpreted in many ways, but overall, it seems to tell a story about the consequences of selling your soul and the desire to confront those who block your path.
