Love Like A Man
Ten Years Later Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You roly-poly
All over town
But you come on back to me
When things are down

Love like a man
Love all you can
Your satisfaction
Is growin' less
If you come on back to me
Use my address and let you

Love like a man
Love all you can

You are the woman
You can't deny
You look so good to me, girl
You make me high

I'll tell you something
I think you know
When you flash those eyes at me
All systems go, yeah

Love like a man
Love all you can

Love like a man
Love all you can

Love like a man
Love all you can

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ten Years Later's Love Like A Man suggest that the singer has a complicated relationship with someone. The lyric "You roly-poly all over town, but you come on back to me when things are down" implies that the subject of the song may be promiscuous, but comes back to the singer when in need. This could suggest a tumultuous relationship, with a partner who is unreliable and prone to disappearing.

The chorus of the song, "Love like a man, love all you can", may seem to suggest that the singer advocates for free love, or that they themselves are not concerned with monogamy. However, given the context of the song, it infers that the singer values being loved wholeheartedly even if it is not exclusively from one person. Through the lyrics, they seem to be urging the subject of the song to be open to all experiences and love wholeheartedly, despite their flaws.

The lyric, "When you flash those eyes at me, all systems go, yeah" suggests a strong physical attraction, and perhaps hints at a relationship that is more about physical pleasure than emotional connection.

Overall, Love Like A Man is a song about a complicated and tumultuous relationship, with a focus on the importance of loving fully and being loved in return. It highlights a desire for passion and physical connection, but also implies a deeper desire for emotional intimacy with their partner.

One of the most underrated bands ever. Makes me want to sneak off to the basement or behind the garage and spark up a doobie. Just like old times.

@robmettler2548

I just said the same thing about one of the most underrated bands These guys were awesome. I think it's a dam shame they never really got recognized in the US. They had only one hit here in the States. WTF!! I had almost all of their albums. Every song I heard was fantastic.

@janstrapina

Underrated your a moron they killed it at Woodstock what a fool

@grantcheney5070

@question authority I was only pointing out that they don't get the airtime and recognition that they deserve on mainstream radio in comparison to other bands of that era. My comment wasn't a criticism of the band, or you, for that matter. The only moron is the one staring back at you in the mirror.

@goa6329

I would not say underrated. Such good quality, and known by the good crowd only. Didn't need to be commercial.
Alvin Lee was one of the great guitarist of the era, and the band is one of the pillar of its time. 🤘
