Soulful vocals, hard grooving beats a la Dilla and lyrics with a sense of humour are a few ways to describe their style and sound.
Their self titled debut is Led by first single “Ralph Wiggum”, which Atwood Magazine called "a song that exists on a plane of involuntary stank face”. The album weaves through a mixture of genres - from groove//jazz (“Ralph Wiggum”, “Fullness”) to a smoother RnB/neo-soul sound (“Maybe it’s you not me”, “No Way No How”) and then funk (“Bubble Monkey”, “Adam Driver”).
The central creative force behind the group is singer//keyboardist Kate Melvina, who writes and produces all the music herself. She then brings the songs to her bandmates whom include Barry Mason (guitar), Carson Gant (drums) and Luis El Pana Tovar (percussion) who help bring her vision to life. Kate’s jazz influence can be heard in many of her compositions, and her lyrics can range from personal and introspective to humorous and zany. She draws much of her inspiration from everyday things such as video games and TV (Earthbound, The Simpsons) and even includes an ode to her favourite actor, Adam Driver.
Many of the group’s influences can be heard throughout, including acts like Stevie Wonder (Kate's hero since she was 15), Prince, D’Angelo and newer artists like Mononeon and Moonchild.
Tendavillage's debut EP is available now on all streaming platforms.

Sprung
Tendavillage Lyrics
She’s always kept close enough to you and ever out of reach
You never know how she feels about you, it’s always a mystery
Why can’t you see
If you wanna be happy
Don’t let yourself be sprung
And you deserve someone
Who doesn’t make a fool of you
But you’ll go with what you want
She’s got you in the palm of her hand
That’s why you’re always going back
But if she wants you, why doesn’t she keep you?
Only wanting what she doesn’t have
After things go into remission, she’ll come crying again
I don’t understand her ambition, chasing those other men
Why can’t you see
If you wanna be happy
Don’t let yourself be sprung
And you deserve someone
Who doesn’t make a fool of you
But you’ll go with what you want
Why do you give her your heart
When she always just rips it apart
You should love someone who knows what she has
You never know how she feels about you, it’s always a mystery
Why can’t you see
If you wanna be happy
Don’t let yourself be sprung
And you deserve someone
Who doesn’t make a fool of you
But you’ll go with what you want
That’s why you’re always going back
But if she wants you, why doesn’t she keep you?
Only wanting what she doesn’t have
After things go into remission, she’ll come crying again
I don’t understand her ambition, chasing those other men
Why can’t you see
If you wanna be happy
Don’t let yourself be sprung
And you deserve someone
Who doesn’t make a fool of you
But you’ll go with what you want
Why do you give her your heart
When she always just rips it apart
You should love someone who knows what she has
