In The Morning I'Ll Be Better
Tennis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'll write your cares away
That I might spare you pain
Let everybody say that I'm gone for you
Say you're my baby
We're sublimating

I'll write a hymn again (I'll write a hymn again)
I'll be your woman (woman)
Keep on believing it
I brought healing
Oh, baby

I'll wrap myself around
You where we can't be found
I'll hide you from the world
'Til we're forgotten
Say you're my baby
We're sublimating

I'll write a hymn again (I'll write a hymn again)
I'll be your woman (woman)
Keep on believing it
I brought healing
Oh, baby

In the morning, I'll be
All better, better, yeah
In the morning, I'll be
All better, better, yeah
Our bodies have betrayed us
In a million different ways

Oh, in the morning, I'll be
All better, better, yeah

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Tennis’s “In The Morning I’ll Be Better” suggest that women are more closely aligned with nature than men. The lyrics might be interpreted as a feminist statement about the power of the female body and its connection to the natural world. The next line, “So but can’t you understand,” could be a challenge to men who fail to see the connection between women and nature. The idea of “binary opposition” suggests a duality between men and women, which “hits me like a divine plan.” This suggests that there is a divine or spiritual element to the difference between the sexes and the connection between women and nature.

The song’s chorus features the lines, “I get hysterical, oh oh / It’s empirical, oh yeah.” The word “hysterical” has historically been used to dismiss women’s emotions, belittling them as irrational or unimportant. However, the use of the word in this song might be seen as a reclamation of female emotional power. The line “It’s empirical” suggests that the emotions experienced by the song’s subject are rooted in evidence-based reality, not just uncontrolled feelings. The repetition of this chorus throughout the song, combined with the sense of urgency in the lyrics, suggests a deep and intense emotional experience that is difficult to articulate.

The final lines of “In The Morning I’ll Be Better” are “It’s metaphorical / For the categorical / I get hysterical / It’s empirical / I get hysterical.” These lines sum up the themes of the song by suggesting that the emotional experience described in the lyrics is both metaphorical and rooted in reality. The use of categorical suggests a binary opposition, once again reinforcing a divide between men and women. However, the song might be interpreted as an attempt to transcend this divide and find a place of emotional and spiritual unity.

I’m in tears right now. I remember when I first saw this video in 2017 and It had always intrigued me but the song never caught my attention. A year later I’m in a shop and they were playing this song and at that moment I fell so in love with it but I FORGOT WHO IT WAS BY. I’ve been searching for this video since then and here I am 2020 finally hearing it after all the struggle I went through trying to find it. It still gives me such a warm happy feeling, I’m so happy I found it FINALLYY!!!!
