The lyrics of Teresa De Sio's song La Montanara describe a man's love for a woman and his promise to create a beautiful garden for her, filled with precious stones and fine gold. He compares her beauty to the pure white snow on the mountains and promises to build a fountain and bring singing birds to it. The woman he loves sings and listens to his words, saying that even her mother knows of her love for this man. The man declares that her walking and talking make him fall in love with her, and he cannot help but notice her beauty as she walks with her long and graceful strides, making the bells on her ankles ring.
