Besides Chris, the original lineup included Jens Gärtner who provided the drums and loops. In 1997, Manuel Selling was added to the lineup to provide the guitars. In 2000, Manuel left the band and Gordon Mocznay took over on guitar and bass guitar. A year later in 2001, Louis Manke joined the band as well, adding a second guitar to the band.
Terminal Choice was Chris Pohl's main and most well-known project, and they have enjoyed great success both in Germany and abroad, and are often compared to and sometimes referred to as a precursor to another popular German industrial-stomp band, Rammstein. The success of Terminal Choice has also transferred to the other members of Terminal Choice, as Chris helped Gordon form his own band known as Mordorn and also helped Louis form a band named Staubkind. Despite being involved with numerous bands, all members are still creating music with Terminal Choice and an album with the title "New Born Enemies" was released on the 28th of July, in 2006.
Terminal Choice released their last CD Übermacht in 2010.
Aggression
Terminal Choice Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A feeling arises
A feeling
Of frustration
A pain in your heart
A pain in your soul
You just want
To let it out
Bury your dreams
It's so hopeless
Anyway
Don't look back
End off your life
Aggression
Is what you got
Pain
Torture
Disillusion
Hope is less in your eyes
Death, blood, innocent victim
Suppression rules your life
You want to judge
About haves people
People from
Other nations
They are weak
Not able to fight
The aim
Of your hate
They have to pay
For your frustration
Do you think that
This is the right way
Your life is going
Up side down
Blind rage
Closes your eyes
The lyrics of Terminal Choice's song "Aggression" speak to the pain and frustration of life, and the overwhelming desire to react with violence and anger. The first stanza speaks to this deep feeling of pain and frustration, a feeling so intense that it becomes physical, felt not only in the heart but in the soul. The lyrics suggest that this feeling is so overwhelming that one simply must let it out, even if that means turning to aggression and violence. The second stanza of the song speaks even more directly to the idea of aggression, suggesting that it is the only thing left for the person who feels hopeless and disillusioned. The pain has become so great that they feel like there is nothing else left to do but seek out death and destruction.
The third stanza takes a turn and introduces the idea of hatred and judgment towards others. The person becomes obsessed with hating others, particularly people from different nations. The lyrics suggest that the reason for the hate is to ease the person's frustration, as they attempt to make others pay for their pain. There is a sense of blindness to this hate, as the lyrics suggest that it is unclear if this is the right way to deal with one's problems. The song as a whole speaks to the pain and desperation of life, and the destructive tendencies that can grow from a sense of hopelessness.
