Hologram
Terrorbyte Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yeah the way that you're broken, you're the perfect fit
Put your hand in mine, complete the circuit
You can see the light come on behind my eyes
We can share my heart to keep us both alive
I cut myself apart to make the pieces fit
Disfigure me until I'm perfect
We can share our skin until we forget
Where one of us ends and the other begins

The shape of you moves through my hands
We fell in love with holograms
I reach for you but I can't feel
These memories were never real

You were the sun in my sky, the light is moving away
The shadow that it casts of me is changing shape
The light starts to fade and now I'm afraid
I'm not a person, I'm not a person
You got me again, you're not what you seem
Someone wake me up another bad dream
I stay awake with my head in my hands
I'm up at 2am wondering who I am
You turned me into something that I never really wanted to be
And now I'm having so much trouble remembering
What you did to me, I'm not a human being
No remorse, no emotion, I became a machine

The shape of you moves through my hands
We fell in love with holograms
I reach for you but I can't feel
These memories were never real

The sun stopped shining, I need your electricity
You turned me into a monster, I became a machine

I tried to make you human, so I gave you my heart
When you leave my arms, my eyes go dark

Overall Meaning

The song "Hologram" by Terrorbyte is about a person who is struggling with their identity after being manipulated by someone they loved. The lyrics talk about the idea of being disfigured and broken until you fit the perfect mold, and the singer feels like they have become a machine rather than a human being. The chorus of the song refers to falling in love with holograms, which suggests that the relationship was never real and only existed in their mind. They reach for the other person but cannot feel them, indicating a lack of connection.

The opening lines of the song suggest that the singer feels incomplete without the other person. They describe the other person as broken, but see them as a perfect fit. This suggests that the singer has been manipulated to believe that they need the other person, even if they are not good for them. The fact that the two of them can share their skin until they do not know where one ends and the other begins emphasizes this idea of being intertwined and unable to separate.

However, as the song progresses, the singer begins to realize that the relationship was not real. The hologram metaphor in the chorus represents the idea that the relationship was an illusion or a fantasy. The singer reaches for the other person but cannot feel them, suggesting a lack of real connection. The lines "You turned me into something that I never really wanted to be / And now I'm having so much trouble remembering / What you did to me, I'm not a human being" emphasize how the singer has lost touch with their true identity.

Damn, I love how much emotion was put into this, that’s what a lot of people don’t seem to understand about music, it’s meant to tell a story, you don’t just slap random words together and call it a song, you have to make it dear to your heart as if it was your own children

@lukas1500

this is true wat you say the best song are song that tell deep story try KONCEAL (band ) extol (band) ,sub dub micromachine-last resort ... maybe you will like it enjoy

@crowcide110

That very thing is what most music is missing most people think music is about making hooks that make you remember them over telling a story you relate to that makes you wanna relisten
