Nazis im Haus
Terrorgruppe Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The song "Nazis im Haus" by Punk Rock band Terrorgruppe tells the story of a person who is living in a house where there are several neighbors who are openly racist and hold extreme right-wing beliefs. The song highlights the discomfort and unease that the person feels while living amongst such people. The first verse mentions Opa Friedrich, who proudly displays his war medals and praises the Nazis for not winning the war solely because the Americans attacked them from behind. The second verse speaks about Herr Lehmann, who walks his dog and allows it to urinate on the playground, stating that only "Turks" play there.

The chorus, which repeats throughout the song, expresses the frustration and disgust of the singer towards his neighbors. He urges them to move out and threatens to kick them out himself. In the third verse, the song talks about Oma Müller, who finds the hallway of the building too full of unsightly graffiti and blames it on the Führer not being in power. The building caretaker, Schmidt, is tasked with cleaning the hallways, but he leaves one message on the wall, "Ausländer raus," which is translated to "foreigners out."

The song uses sarcasm and irony to underline the dangers of living close to people with far-right interests. The lyrics effectively capture an atmosphere of uneasiness and a longing to escape from their environment. The lyrics provide insights into the impact that the ideologies of Nazism and racism can have on a community and their effects on unity.
