Weekend
Terry Todd Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What we gonna do here is go back
I can't take the hearbreak of you leaving me again
And I'm not the one I was back then, no, no, no, no
One thing I can't take is to sit home all alone
Do what you like, my dear, but I'm not staying home

Night and day (I was patient)
But I've had all I could take (All I can take)

Tonight's the night, the chance is right
Maybe I'll find a friend to spend the weekend
(Goin' out, but to dance ain't why)
Goin' to find a friend to spend the weekend

Tonight is party time, is party time tonight
Tonight is party time, is party time tonight
Tonight is party time, is party time tonight
Tonight is party time, is party time tonight

Baby, don't see the love 'cause it was never, never here before
You close your eyes and I'm closing the door
One thing I can't take is to sit home all alone
Do what you like, my dear, but you see I'm not stayin' home

'Cause night and day I was patient
But I've had all I could take

Maybe I'll find a friend to spend the weekend
(Goin' out, but to dance ain't why)
I'm goin' to find, to find someone, someone to spend the night, baby

Tonight is party time, is party time tonight
Tonight is party time, is party time tonight
(That's right tonight baby) tonight is party time, is party time tonight
Tonight is party time, is party time tonight

But night and day you see baby I was patient
(But I've had all) I've had I could take
Night and day (oh yeah, yeah)
(But I've had all) I've had I could take

Tonight's the night, the chance is right
Maybe I'll find someone, somebody who want my body, baby
(Goin' out, but to dance ain't why)
I'm goin' to find someone to spend the night

Tonight is party time, is party time tonight
Tonight is party time, is party time tonight
Tonight is party time, is party time tonight (That's right baby is party time)
Tonight is party time, is party time tonight
(T-t-tonight)
(T-t-tonight)
Tonight is party time
Tonight is party time

Tonight is party time
Tonight is party time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Terry Todd's song "Weekend" describe a person who is tired of being left alone and decides to go out and have fun. The song begins with the singer expressing his frustration with his partner leaving him, but he is not the same anymore and cannot take the heartbreak of being left alone again. He, however, wants to go out and find someone to spend the weekend with rather than sitting home alone. He tells his partner to do what she likes but he will not be staying at home.

As the song progresses, the singer insists that he has been patient both day and night, but he has reached his limit. It is clear that he wants to find a friend or someone to spend the weekend with, and he is willing to go out and meet new people. The song ends with the singer repeating that tonight is party time and he is ready to have fun.

The lyrics of "Weekend" are typical of the disco era, where everyone was focused on having fun and partying. The song tries to capture the mood of the time and the need to break away from the routine of everyday life to enjoy oneself.

New York House!!
“Hip-Hop House”
Todd Terry is king!
They always bumped
Todd’s Tracks at
Lime Light, The Palladium,
The Devil’s Nest, The Tunnel and Studio 54!
80’s NYC clubs and music was the best! They played Freestyle and what was new at the time house music! First house track I ever heard was Chicago’s
House song by Marshall Jefferson “Move Your Body”
Then Todd and Royal House and many NYC producers added that hard NYC hip-hop vibe that we have!!
Todd is King!
