Never say goodbye and so
It's gone
And who should know
You used me as a cigarette
You sucked me dry and won the bet
It's all right
A sweet boy in your love collection
Truly one of a kind
Before I lost your last election
This is what I had in mind
The years went by, cherished my name
But this high school dance could never
Be the same
Forgot the steps now
But you saw what the angel ended up to be
You saw how we fought and not for you
But for me!
Was just another ... Another
A sweet boy in your love collection
Truly one of a kind
Before I lost your last election
This is what I had in mind
And I'II take you down, I'll take you everywhere you want to
Don't question me, everything I did - I did for you!
How could your name end up in shame
How could your face end up
Behind a frame
God help us now!
'Cause I did it quick, I did it for you
I killed our love like lovers do
And it's all right
Was just another ... Another
A sweet boy in your love collection
Truly one of a kind
Before I lost your last election
This is what I had in mind
And I'II take you down, I'll take you everywhere you want to
Don't question me, everything I did - I did for you!
You shall not become - if you come undone
You shall not be mine - if you cross my line
You shall not become - if you come undone
You shall not be mine - if you cross my line
You shall not become - if you come undone
You shall not be mine - if you cross my line
The lyrics to Tesco Value's song "Metamorphosis" tell a story of a romantic relationship that ends abruptly and without closure. The singer feelings rejected and used, as though they were nothing more than a disposable item like a cigarette, thrown away and forgotten about. The chorus repeats the phrase "just another...another" which serves as a reminder that this is not the first time they have been discarded in this way.
The second verse provides a bit more context to the relationship, with the mention of a high school dance where the two had previously connected. However, as time passed, the singer feels as though they had lost touch and had been forgotten about. The bridge of the song is a bit more aggressive in tone, with the singer saying they will take their former partner down everywhere they want to go but also acknowledging the destructive nature of their decisions.
The final chorus repeats the earlier, more emotional statements and ends with a stern warning: "You shall not become - if you come undone / You shall not be mine - if you cross my line." The lyrics suggest that the singer has taken control of the relationship, but it is unclear if this control is healthy or a result of feeling powerless in the past.
