She grew up in Oregon and performed in theater while in high school. She released her debut album Maybe Trapped Mostly Troubled in March 2014.

Violet is known for her trademark colorful hair, and array of large-frame glasses worn in her videos. She is sometimes referred to as a geek-girl for having an interest in Digimon, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, and The Legend of Zelda. She started vlogging in 2007 for a school project and began to do so daily when she traveled to Hong Kong and Thailand as a fashion model.

Hey Tessa. I love your music and was listening to a bunch of your songs today. My father passed away last week, and this is the first time I have heard this song since. And there is just so much more meaning and emotion to it now. I keep thinking about the lines "I'm just trying to get back to normal. Not to stiff, too formal." And of course, I would give anything to tell my father "I love you" again. I know I can still say it. I have been saying it. I just wanna hear it back.

This song came out and really struck a chord deep inside me. To this day the song still hits me right in the feels. I may have never accepted and done something about the terrible way i was being treated had I not dove into why this song stirs something up in me. This song still hits me in the feels, but now when I listen to it, I feel ok. I feel good again. I feel much closer to myself and that idea of just being yourself and accepting that you can't please everyone. One of the many reasons I love Tessa Violet and her work and hope she continues to see the sucess she deserves. :)

There's some sort of mystical, dreamy quality in this song that I can drown in. It's so calming and sweet, but at the same time filled with melancholy. I feel like the line "to keep your memory from washing over me" succinctly wraps up the whole feel of the song; every time I listen it's like a wave washing over me. Not only is the song so brilliant, but the coloring and dreamy nature of this video compliments it so nicely. Thank you, Tessa, for all these incredible lyric videos and songs over this past month!
