after I've Fallen...
after I've Fallen...
into this path
so addicted to applauses
addicted to the powers
all your daughters treat me like
I have treaded water
the characters I spawned and
it's spreading like diseases
leaking skeletons from closets
tell your correspondents,
they faces green with vomit,
Call it what you want,
all this power is retarded
when they see that
I have nodded,
certain names is getting blotted
certain ways is parted,
some have charted to the top,
some have rotted
at the rock rock bottom
and they sign
where it's dot dot dotted
and they not not
knowing that this all gon
leave em out of soul
out of order...no soul...
out of soul...out of order...
no soul...no soul
it's hard to get back up
after I've Fallen...
after I've Fallen...
into this path
so addicted to applauses
addicted to the powers
all your daughters treat me like
I have treaded water
it's hard to get back up
after I've Fallen...
after I've Fallen...
into this path
so addicted to applauses
addicted to the powers
all your daughters treat me like
I have treaded water
bought it, yes they bought into
the characters I spawned and
it's spreading like diseases
leaking skeletons from closets
tell your correspondents,
they faces green with vomit,
Call it what you want,
all this power is retarded
when they see that
I have nodded,
certain names is getting blotted
certain ways is parted,
some have charted to the top,
some have rotted
at the rock rock bottom
and they sign
where it's dot dot dotted
and they not not
knowing that this
The lyrics of Tetsuya Komuro's song "Years Later" explore the struggles and aftermath of fame and success. The repetition of the phrase "after I've Fallen" suggests a fall from grace or a loss of prominence. The singer acknowledges the difficulty of returning to a position of power and respect after experiencing a downfall.
The lyrics also touch upon the addictive nature of fame, with lines like "addicted to applauses" and "addicted to the powers." This addiction to the adulation and influence that come with success is portrayed as both enticing and destructive. The singer comments on how people, particularly "all your daughters," view them as a figure who has triumphed and conquered challenges, like someone who "treaded water." This perception of the singer reinforces the addictive nature of fame and the expectations placed upon them.
The lyrics also introduce the idea that fame is a double-edged sword. The power and influence that come with it can lead to negative consequences. The mention of "leaking skeletons from closets" suggests that secrets and flaws are exposed and can have a detrimental effect. The singer addresses the correspondents who report on these issues, pointing out that they may envy the singer's power but are also disgusted by what they see. The line "Call it what you want, all this power is retarded" suggests that the singer questions the value and worth of their fame, recognizing that it can be destructive and not as glamorous as it may seem.
The lyrics also touch upon the uneven trajectories that fame can lead to. Some individuals rise to the top while others deteriorate and hit "rock rock bottom." The reference to signing where it's "dot dot dotted" suggests signing contracts or agreements without fully understanding the consequences or implications. Overall, the lyrics depict the complexities and challenges of fame, highlighting the struggle to regain prominence, the addictive nature of power, and the destructive aspects that can arise from it.
