Texas in July Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Could you be any weaker. You? Worthless being.
Every second you take is a waste of my time.
What else do you want? Have you already killed me, dime? For dime.
I am ruthless. You spit a hard game. I don't like it.
I swear one day you will shape up coward. Until then you are worthless.
The lyrics to Texas in July’s song “Page One” are a brutal attack on someone who is perceived by the singer as weak and useless. The opening lyrics, “You beg for mercy when you crouch down in front of me. Could you be any weaker? You? Worthless being,” set the tone for the harsh words that follow. The singer is clearly disgusted by the person in front of them and feels that every second they waste is a waste of their time. The lines “What else do you want? Have you already killed me, dime? For dime” suggest that the singer feels this person is trying to take something from them, perhaps their dignity or power.
The lyrics continue with the singer proclaiming their own ruthlessness and superiority over the other person. They express their distaste for the other person’s attempts to appear tough or confident, making it clear that they see through their facade. The final line “Until then, you are worthless” is a final blow to the person’s self-esteem, cementing the idea that they are nothing in the eyes of the singer.
Overall, “Page One” is a brutal and unforgiving takedown of someone who is perceived as weak and useless. The lyrics are a reminder of the power dynamics that exist in human relationships and the way that people can use words to assert dominance over others.
