The group made their 1992 rap verse debut on Dr. Dre's The Chronic, on various songs. They also appeared on Snoop's classic Doggystyle, and the Death Row soundtracks Murder Was The Case and Above The Rim. Their solo, Dogg Food, was released in 1995. It was another addition to the controversy of rap music due to the sexual and violent lyrics and went on to sell three million albums.
In 1996, they were featured on 2Pac's Death Row Records debut All Eyez On Me. Kurupt and Daz went on to have solo success in 1998. They both eventually left Death Row Records, and Kurupt started Antra Records, while Daz started D.P.G. Recordz. In 2003 a feud arose between them because Kurupt had claimed that Daz betrayed him. Kurupt signed back to Death Row Records in 2004, and his awaited release "Against Tha Grain" has been postponed several times. Daz is still on D.P.G records, with his new 2005 release "Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta LP". Sometime in April 2005 at the West Coast Conference held by Snoop Dogg, Kurupt and Daz reconciled and recorded their new single "Push Back" that same night. There will be two new Dogg Pound albums out this year. The first will be a D.P.G.C. album with Tha Dogg Pound, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Soopafly, Warren G, Bad Azz, and Tray Dee.

Then he's played out
A hustler only hustles for so long
Then he's hustled out
A pimp only pimps for so long
And that's for life
For all the pimps I've known
A whore, a whore only whores for so long
Before she's whored out
Put that on this life
To play these games on the field of life
Is a very hard game to play on
Yeah, put that on somethin'
That's so damn flossy, like a trip to the tailor
And the parlor
Don't even matter about the dollar
When I hit the streets, the whores gon' holler
If dripping wool is gonna shine to blind
Hypnotically to the flow of my pen
It's gonna let you know
That I come to peel with my whore
But somebody's gotta do it
Somebody's gotta win at it
Because the game's never gonna stop
Champagne bottles gon' still be popped
By the players at the top of their game
Like Daz, Kurupt, the Pound
Put that on this life
Yeah, and a girl can give up that ass for free
For only so long
Then she's labelled a whore
Might as well get paid
'Cause treasure
Is the pleasure that the girl sells all day
Better hit the corner, let's get la-di-da-di
Pay me enough money so I can share it with everybody
Like la-di-da-di, let's go and have this party
Like the Megatron Mack from the year 2000
Yeah, we bringin' it back, we bringin' it back
Ooh-wee
Yeah, kick some smooth shit
In Tha Dogg Pound's song Big Pimpin 2, the lyrics discuss the transient nature of the hustling lifestyle. The verses highlight the limitations of each role in the business of sex work: a player can only play for a finite amount of time before they become played-out and irrelevant; a hustler can only hustle for so long before they are hustled out of opportunities; and a whore can only sell their body for so long before they become "whored out". However, a pimp can supposedly pimp for life, making it the only sustainable role in this lifestyle.
The chorus emphasizes this idea as it repeats the phrase "For all the pimps I've known, it's been pimp or die." The artist stresses the cyclical nature of this business and how it is a hard game to play. Despite this, the song also sheds light on how being in the game is still worth the struggle, as someone has to win at it. The artist glorifies the lavish lifestyle that comes with being a top player in this business, including popping champagne bottles and having girls line up to work for you. The artist concludes by stating that a girl may as well get paid for selling her body, otherwise she will be labeled a whore.
Overall, the song reflects the artist's admiration for the pimp culture and the extravagant lifestyle that comes with it, despite the challenges and limitations it presents.
