I'm here to learn more about, and appreciate, a time when music (around the world, not just in Thailand--although I really enjoy these particular Thai styles) was really genuine, creative, and had soul.... because unfortunately, it seems as though many are slowly slipping away from these principles in making music today. I hope that we can all appreciate this album as an artifact, learn from it, and stay true to our genuine creative expressions instead of making generic music to wow the masses. Let's not simply sample old stuff without trying to first learn about the context in which it was formed, and trying to understand the value of that music to the people of the time and place it was made. Music tells a story and we can all experience the story and hopefully learn and be enriched from it, and most importantly, never forget it.

i dont know what ur talking about. if ur saying music was better back then then thats just an opinion. if ur saying music was more creative back then i highly doubt it. this music, most of the worlds music at this time was inspired by the rock from USA, the beat, the style of singing. eventually everyones music went off in their own direction but at this time was really the first time the world was exposed to western types of music due to new tech

The only Atlanta college radio station not taken over by the subversion of NPR, WREK (Georgia Tech), plays from this fairly frequently. It's so interesting to me that to my ear this sort of music combines something tribal with surf guitar, which is beyond quirky and yet somehow appealing. I keep waiting for a Quentin Tarantino cast and crew to come around the corner, speeding cars and guns blazing.

For the real experience, go to Thailand, visit any disco, wait around 2am when the Thai music segment is mandatorily played, hand over a usb pen containing your best picks to the DJ (which you will have carefully imbibed all the previous time) and ask to play it 2 minutes "just for laughs". The outcome should be good, enjoy!
