Took a friend out to the range for her first time shooting, we went over fundamentals and gun safety for about 30 minutes before even letting her shoot. She was absolutely thrilled as we went from a .22, to 9mm, 45 ACP, and then 12 gauge. She then asked me a question: “so the handguns, were those automatic?”
Of course, I told her that they were all semi-automatic, and that the media tends to skew information in regards to guns. She seemed confused, so I then asked the guys at the range if I could use their full auto MP5 for demonstration purposes.
She was having the time of her life when she shot that thing, and then she understood the difference. Then she said something that was sad but unsurprising: “everything I see on the news about automatic weapons is a lie.”
It might seem unlikely, but the sad truth is that the far left’s false and heavily biased media coverage on 2A rights does work on the uninformed. I felt proud helping to shape another 2A believer, and she loved the experience so much that we went shooting again the following week!
I guess the moral of the story is, do your best to educate the uneducated or misinformed individuals about 2A rights!
