With a sound that has been compared to STP and Smashing Pumpkins, mixing in touches of Zeppelin, GNR and AC/DC, St. Louis-based The 45 is equal parts fresh and energetic, seasoned and mature. Eighteen-year-old Cody Denton has been called a “guitar prodigy,” and lead vocalist DJ Lynn mixes a voice often compared to that of Billy Corgan, with the angst of Kurt Cobain. Established songwriter/guitarist Daniel Sage has hundreds of songs and performances under his belt, and the rhythm section, comprised of drummer Brandon Artinger (formerly of Inimical Drive), and bassist/engineer Justin Dietrich (who is currently working in tandem with legendary producer Stuart Epps [Led Zeppelin, Oasis] on The 45's first LP). The band is perfectly at home in the studio or on a stage, proven by their polished studio EP “Feed the Monster” (2011) and recent appearance at St. Louis’ Pointfest 28 (capacity 20,000) headlined by Korn, Finger Eleven, Papa Roach, Sevendust, and Hollywood Undead.

The fact that we've been walking on a one-way street.
Been trying to please her but she's caught by the fever of a loosing week.
So give me enjoyment for the lack of employment.
I still believe there's nothing worth working for.
She's caught between the breakdown.
No-one to write your name on a rain-soaked beach.
And who's gonna call some storms though the fields of thunder.
You're caught between the breakdown.
There's something inside us, that wakes and disguises.
The fact that we've been walking on a one-way street.
Been trying to please her but she's caught by the fever of a loosing week.
So give me enjoyment for the lack of employment.
I still believe there's nothing worth working for.
You're caught between the breakdown.
With days like that well pain's no wonder.
No-one to write your name on a rain-soaked beach.
And who's gonna call some storms though the fields of thunder.
You're caught between the breakdown.
If you walk and you run, then we can talk about it.
The lyrics to The 45's song "Breakdown" reveal a message about the emotions and struggles that many people face in their daily lives. The opening lines suggest that there is a part of us that remains hidden and suppressed until it is awakened, and we are forced to confront it. The reference to walking on a one-way street is a metaphor for feeling trapped or limited in our choices or options. The next line suggests that we may have been trying to please someone else, perhaps at the expense of our own happiness or well-being. However, despite our efforts, we have been unsuccessful, and we feel that we are losing control.
The next lines of the song suggest that we are searching for enjoyment despite our lack of employment or success. We may feel lost or unsure of our purpose, but we still believe that there is something worth living for. The repetition of the phrase "You're caught between the breakdown" emphasizes the feeling of being stuck or trapped in a difficult situation. The lines about pain and writing our name on a rain-soaked beach suggest that our struggles may be isolating and overwhelming, making it difficult to see a way out. However, the final line leaves room for hope, suggesting that if we are willing to take action (to walk and run), we can find a way forward.
