I sang on this song and there will never be a choir like this again. I miss my choir member's some have passed onto be with Lord. And the rest of us very few are still alive. You should be able to appreciate these peoples connection with their higher power and feel their spirituality through music. I'm an atheist, and what you said was cringe. You can enjoy religious art fully without having to change it suit your needs by recognizing other aspects of it that are important (tone, theme, history, etc.). And out of everyone you could choose, Socrates? He wasn't an atheist.
