The Accidentals Lyrics

Beetle brown eyes, stay in the right lane
Dog at the end of the street laughs loud
All the little critters lying on the ground
Staring up at the placid blue of an October sky…
My grizzly bear, I don't care, I don't care if you're grisly
Girl with a dress has a soft stuffed cub
So does the man with a job at the pub
But picking bones is such a pain
Staring up at the placid blue of an October sky…
My grizzly bear, I don't care, I don't care if you're grisly
Now I'm caught between your deadly arms
I don't wanna start a fight
With my glass eyeballs and my cleared out brain
I still can't see what's right
My grizzly bear, I don't care, I don't care if you're grisly
My grizzly bear, I don't care, I don't care if you're grisly
The Accidentals’s song, Lemons in Chamomile, is a quirky and imaginative piece with lyrics that are open to different interpretations. The song starts off with a series of seemingly unrelated images, such as a bird on the road with a “jellyfish brain,” a dog that laughs loudly at the end of the street, and a girl in a soft-stuffed cub dress. The singer observes “all the little critters” lying on the ground, staring up at the placid blue of an October sky.
As the song continues, the singer mentions a “grizzly bear,” which seems to be a symbol of something dangerous or untamed, yet the singer declares, “I don’t care if you’re grisly.” The lyrics suggest a sense of playfulness and whimsy, as if the singer is making up a story as they go along, and the meaning may be unclear or subject to interpretation. One interpretation could be that the song is about learning to accept and embrace the wild and unpredictable parts of ourselves and others, represented by the grizzly bear.
The final lines of the song suggest a sense of vulnerability and uncertainty, as the singer is caught between “deadly arms” and unable to see what’s right. The repeated phrase “I don’t care if you’re grisly” takes on a new meaning here, as it could represent a defiance in the face of danger or a willingness to accept the darker parts of life.
