They soon changed their name to The Adicts and became known for their distinctive Clockwork Orange 'Droog' image, which, along with their urgent, uptempo music and light-hearted lyrics, helped set them very much apart from the rest of the genre. Temporary 1980s name changes to ADX and FUN ADICTS, for a children's TV appearance, also occurred.
Their song "Viva La Revolution" was featured in the video game Tony Hawk's Underground.
The band still has all its original members, uncommon for a band with such longevity.
The music of The Adicts proves that punk music is a very broad genre, often featuring extra instruments and sound clips such as carousel music (How Sad), violin played by Derick Cook (Joker in the Pack), gongs and keyboard percussion by Anthony Boyd (Chinese Takeaway), and even completely different songs like the switch to Gain To Lose's Tune #24 at the end of G.I.R.L..
The look of the majority of the bandmates is that of the Droogs from the Stanley Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange based on the book by Anthony Burgess. All white with black combat boots and black bowler hats. The band says that the look appealed to them because of the teenage angst associated with A Clockwork Orange. Singer "Monkey" wears full joker make-up and his clothes are wild, patterned suits, flared trousers, colorful dress shirts, and other such things. His favorites seem to be checkerboard patterns, or polkadots. And of course, there's the obligatory bowler hat and gloves. Along with the look come stage antics involving streamers, confetti, playing cards, joker hats, toy instruments, and glitter just to name a few things.

We Ain't Got A Say In The World Today
Hey Hey Hey', We Ain't Got A Say
We Ain't Got A Say In The World Today
Let's Hear Your Voices, We Got Choices. Yeh'
We March Together In Any Weather, Yeh'
Those Politicians Are Making Decisions
Who Has The Answers To Our Questions
Maybe We'll Never Know
[Chorus:]
My Church Is Waiting For Your Credit Card
Why Don't You Nail Me To This Cross
Look To The Future, All Together
We Can Change The World
Political Correctness, It's A Fucking Farce.
(Politions, Religion, Corruption, Corporations,
Global Warming, Pollution, Racism, Nationalism,
Fundamentalism, Terrorism, Television)
I'm Just Not Your Television Personality.
Some Body Help Me, I Want To Sleep Tonight
Lets Stick Together In Any Weather
And Put The World To Right
Let's Stick Together, Let's Stick Together
Let's Stick Together And Fight
Let's Stick Together, Let's Get Together Unite.
Hey Hey Hey', We All Got A Say
We All Got A Say In The World Today.
The Adicts’s song ‘We Ain’t Got A Say’ is a call to action. It highlights how our world is being governed by politicians, corporations, and various other institutions and how we, as the common masses, have no say in the way things are run. The song is a powerful message that inspires a sense of responsibility in individuals to take control of their lives and join hands to fight against these forces of oppression. The chorus repeats the phrase ‘We Ain’t Got A Say’ several times, depicting the helplessness and frustration of people in the face of these challenges.
The song stands out for its verse on Political Correctness, which The Adicts sing is ‘a fucking farce’. This line calls attention to a topic of continuous debate- whether political correctness promotes equality or restricts free speech. However, the song encourages people to put their disagreements aside and unite in the face of various issues that affect everyone profoundly. It surmises that the only way to move forward is for people to put aside their differences and focus their efforts on the goal at hand.
In conclusion, ‘We Ain’t Got A Say’ is an anthem for the marginalized, a call to arms for those who want to take back control of their lives. It addresses the fears, concerns and the helplessness of ordinary people against powers beyond their reach.
