They soon changed their name to The Adicts and became known for their distinctive Clockwork Orange 'Droog' image, which, along with their urgent, uptempo music and light-hearted lyrics, helped set them very much apart from the rest of the genre. Temporary 1980s name changes to ADX and FUN ADICTS, for a children's TV appearance, also occurred.
Their song "Viva La Revolution" was featured in the video game Tony Hawk's Underground.
The band still has all its original members, uncommon for a band with such longevity.
The music of The Adicts proves that punk music is a very broad genre, often featuring extra instruments and sound clips such as carousel music (How Sad), violin played by Derick Cook (Joker in the Pack), gongs and keyboard percussion by Anthony Boyd (Chinese Takeaway), and even completely different songs like the switch to Gain To Lose's Tune #24 at the end of G.I.R.L..
The look of the majority of the bandmates is that of the Droogs from the Stanley Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange based on the book by Anthony Burgess. All white with black combat boots and black bowler hats. The band says that the look appealed to them because of the teenage angst associated with A Clockwork Orange. Singer "Monkey" wears full joker make-up and his clothes are wild, patterned suits, flared trousers, colorful dress shirts, and other such things. His favorites seem to be checkerboard patterns, or polkadots. And of course, there's the obligatory bowler hat and gloves. Along with the look come stage antics involving streamers, confetti, playing cards, joker hats, toy instruments, and glitter just to name a few things.

I hear them laughing oh so loud
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! they're laughing
My feelings sometimes better me
Those things I sometimes have to hear
Whoa-ooh-oh whoa-ooh whoa-ooh
I'll cry then!
Can't you see, times are changing
You're so cruel
I know one day you will change, too
I can't get served in cafes or bars
My customs not as good as yours
Hey come on! why don't you serve me!
Sometimes I get so depressed
'cause I don't want to look
Like the rest of you
Woo woo hoo
You're all fools
Can't you see, times are changing
You're so cruel
I know one day, you will change, too
When I go strolling through the crowd
I hear them laughing oh so loud
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! they're laughing
My feelings sometimes bother me
Those things I sometimes have to hear
Whoa-ooh whoa-ooh whoa-ooh
I'll cry then!
You're all fools
Can't you see, times are changing
You're so cruel
I know one day you will change, too
You're gonna change
You're all fools
Can't you see, times are changing
You're so cruel, so cruel so cruel
I know one day you will change, too
You're all fools, you're all fools
Can't you see, times are changing, times are changing
You're so cruel, so cruel, so cruel, so cruel
I know one day you will change, too, I know you'll change

The Adicts' song "You're All Fools" speaks to the artist's feelings of alienation and frustration with societal norms. The song presents a strong theme of social commentary, and the lead singer expresses his frustration with being treated like an outcast. The lyrics reveal the artist's perception of how society sees him and how people behave towards him, as well as his dissatisfaction with his own appearance. The artist uses the metaphor of walking through a crowd, hearing people laugh at him, and feeling like crying.
Moreover, the phrase "you're all fools" is repeated throughout the song, and the repetition serves multiple purposes. First, it emphasizes the song's theme of social criticism, that people are acting foolishly and need to change. Second, it highlights the desperation of the lead singer who is fed up with being treated unfairly.
Overall, "You're all fools" is a resonating song that conveys the frustration of being an outcast in society. It's a call to action for people to question their way of thinking and become more accepting of the differences that make us who we are.
