TV Riot
The Adored Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We're locked into a television riot.
She found herself in the television riot.

Someday conversation will be back in vogue,
and we'll have to clean up this mess.
I'll say something unrecited, but right now i just don't know what it is.
These days, we're so obsessed with the emptiness of the cable set.
She'll say that nothing's changed but she's mirroring the lines of this foreign movie.

Your two eyes had a good thing going, now I try so hard to understand.
Switching channels for dreams, but I still don't know what it means.
We get stuck in reruns
-- we should be getting things done.

We're locked into a television riot.
She found herself in the television riot.

Programs have me questioning every good thing that comes out of you.
My hands are feeling uninspired, but the digital coma keeps me true.
These days we need a rest from the emptiness of the cable sect.
She'll say that nothing's changed, but she's tearing up my time with this.

Your two eyes had a good thing going, now I tried so hard to understand.
Switching channels for dreams, but I still don't know what it means.
We get stuck in reruns
-- we should be getting things done.

Channels changing your mind when I gave up on everything...

Overall Meaning

The song TV Riot by The Adored is a commentary on how people have become so obsessed with television that they are missing out on real-life experiences. The lyrics paint a picture of a society that is stuck in a digital coma, unable to escape the endless barrage of television programming that dominates their lives. The phrase "television riot" refers to the chaos and sensory overload that television can create, as viewers are bombarded with so many different images and messages that they lose sight of what is truly important.

The opening lines of the song, "We're locked into a television riot / She found herself in the television riot," suggest that the singer and his partner have become trapped in this digital world. The repetition of the phrase "television riot" throughout the song emphasizes the all-consuming nature of television, which has become a kind of addiction for many people. Despite recognizing the problem, the singer and his partner feel powerless to break free from it, as they are "stuck in reruns" and unable to "get things done."

The chorus of the song, "Your two eyes had a good thing going, now I try so hard to understand / Switching channels for dreams, but I still don't know what it means," highlights the disconnect between the real world and the fantasy world of television. The singer is struggling to understand why his partner has become so caught up in the digital world, and is searching for a way to reconnect with her. Ultimately, the song suggests that society needs to find a way to wean itself off of television and rediscover the value of face-to-face interaction and genuine human connection.

Saintsrow 1 definitely had the best soundtracks

@thellamasorcerer4785

Yeah.

@WennKillz

Ryan (the singer) left the band and they continued for a while without him but it was never the same. From what I remember, Ryan was much more into Punk. Not sure if he's doing anything now. It's been at least 7 yrs or so since I saw them live.

@authenticvegas

They played a show on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, at The Plaza, in the space that is now Oscar's Steakhouse. Bloody brilliant band.

Saints row best game :)

Yes

You can tell Volition really liked this song. It's probably the most frequent song in the game, playing often on at least two channels. Not that I'm complaining, it's a great song

@SJMetastatek11

Ryan George is now in a band called Youth Code. They are heavily influenced by Wax Trax Records stuff from late 1980s/ early 1990s. They are shaking up the L.A. Industrial music scene with their old school sound!

@sizzlingtumor2386

S.J. Metastatek good

@WennKillz

Don't know about "saints row" but the Adored put on a KICK ass show! I first saw them when they opened for Butch Walker (one of the best musicians and producers EVER) and they quickly became one of my favorite bands. I still listen to their CD to this day! Ryan is a dollface and I had a ton of fun with him. I MISS "the Adored!"
