The group is based on a number of regular group members such as Stuart Elliot and Ian Bairnson, complemented with varying lead vocals such as Colin Blunstone (the Zombies), Chris Rainbow and Gary Brooker (Procol Harum). The group is well known for its concept albums, which cover themes such as Edgar Allan Poe, Gaudi, and Freud.
Eric Woolfson wrote most of the music and lyrics while Alan Parsons overviewed the production process. Prior to starting his Project, Parsons worked as an engineer with names such as the Beatles (Abbey Road, the Get Back roofttop concert) and Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon, Atom Heart Mother).
Since the 1990s Alan Parsons has been performing live shows, touring all over the world, but without Eric Woolfson.

This is NOT the 1976 version!!
The version with Orson Welles' narration is the 1987 remix!!
I realize that some people could give a rat's ass about the difference, but I know the difference real well, as I've been listening to this album since the 70's, and have my own preference between the righteous version (1976), and the sullied, tainted, inferior version (1987).
The two should never be confused or mislabeled with each other.
The TRUE 1976 version WITHOUT Orson Welles' narration is the REAL JAMES BOND here (to borrow from THAT hype and rhetoric).
That other thing is just an abomination that needs to be put out of everyone's misery.

I was 13 and I bought all Alan Parsons albums through the years but this one was my favourite and I listened to it all day long. One of the best in music ever released!

My Dad, Brother, and me used to just sit, and silently ( and motionless ;) ) listen to this album . I memorized Mr. Welles's monologue at a very early age; and I still recite it to myself from time to time.
I've always had the impression that Mr. Parsons was most fond of this album out of all his work, and was always embittered by its cold reception.
All I know is that this album changed me, shaped me, and continues to move me to this day.
Thank you, Mr. Parsons, for this wonderment. You're a great talent, and possibly the most thoughtful man in music
