Swear to miss you
And the doors are cell block tight
Sweet sedation
Sweep the issues
And the clocks about to strike
Did it call you down
Are you back just yet
And the only sound is a minute left
This could be, this could be the last time
It's a chance to fix mistakes
One more for the last time
Does it blow our dreams away
Don't waste this chance with your smile
Ten seconds left on this dial
This could be the last time
Along the staircase
I dream to hear you
In a whisper quiet room
Space the thinking
Space to scream to
But the echoes sound like you
Not the stars at night
In a pitch black sky
I don't know just wants to see you
But the time is right and it only flies
This could be, this could be the last time
It's a chance to fix mistakes
One more for the last time
Does it blow our dreams away
Don't waste this chance with your smile
Ten seconds left on this dial
This could be the last time
It's only us
It's only now
A simple wish
It's only tonight
This could be the last time
Now I've made our last mistake
One more for the last time (this could be) (this could be)
Does it blow our dreams away (this could be) (this could be)
Don't waste this chance with your smile (this could be (this could be)
Ten seconds left on this dial (this could be) (this could be)
This could be the last time (this could be) (this could be)
It's only us
It's only now
It's only tonight
The lyrics to The All-American Rejects song 11:11 PM describe the feeling of finality and the urgency to make the most of what could be the last chance. The imagery of the windows and doors missing the person they are addressed to and the space around being cell block tight might refer to the emotional confinement and separation one feels without the presence of a loved one. The singer wishes to be set free and have the chance to fix mistakes in the last minutes before it could all come to the end. The song carries a sense of regret over missed opportunities and a desire to not waste any more time, marked by the ticking of the clock about to strike and the sound of a minute left. The line "this could be, this could be the last time" echoes throughout the song, reminding us that life is fleeting and that we should cherish what we have left.
The lyrics of the song were written by the band's lead singer, Tyson Ritter, who wrote it as a reflection on the loss of a relationship. He has described the song as a "storytelling pop song" about the concept of time and the importance of not wasting it. The title itself refers to the specific moment late at night when a person might feel most alone and contemplative.

All the windows,
All the windows in my room make me remember you
Swear to miss you,
I swear I'm going to miss you
And the doors are cell block tight,
I feel trapped and locked up without you
Sweet sedation,
I'm trying to find comfort in something else
Sweep the issues,
I try to forget about our problems
And the clocks about to strike
Time is running out
Did it call you down,
Did you come and visit me in my dreams?
Are you back just yet,
Have you returned to my side?
Waiting now please come set me free,
I'm waiting for you to release me from this pain
And the only sound is a minute left.
The only thing I hear is the ticking of the clock
This could be, this could be the last time
This might be our last chance
It's a chance to fix mistakes,
We can correct our errors
One more for the last time,
One more opportunity before it's too late
Does it blow our dreams away,
Will our dreams be shattered?
Don't waste this chance with your smile
Make the most of this opportunity and don't fake happiness
Ten seconds left on this dial,
We only have a few more moments
Along the staircase,
On the stairs of our memories
I dream to hear you,
I long to hear your voice
In a whisper quiet room,
In a peaceful and silent place
Space the thinking,
Clear your mind
Space to scream to,
A space to vent out emotions
But the echoes sound like you,
Even my own voice echoes like yours
Not the stars at night,
Not even the beauty of the night sky compares
In a pitch black sky,
During the darkest times
I don't know just wants to see you
I just want to catch a glimpse of you
But the time is right and it only flies.
The time is perfect but it goes by too quickly
It's only us,
It's just you and me
It's only now,
It's happening in this moment
A simple wish,
Just one request
It's only tonight.
It's happening tonight and only tonight
Now I've made our last mistake
I know this is our last chance and I don't want to mess it up
