I'm Waiting

You tear me down with the same thing
There's nothing thee and it's begun
What can you do when it all drains
Down there, you go always
See if I care faded
Down, don't you know where I'll be
Waiting, when I'm waiting
(downtown now)
I've been here before, and I don't care where I'm going
So I'll say...
When you walk don't leave a note
Just put your hands on the back door
When you talk it's just a joke
Just no, I can't take it anymore
Down there, you go always
See if I care faded
Down, don't you know where I'll be
'cause I'm here, on my own
Waiting, when I'm waiting
(downtown now)
I've been here before, and I don't care where I'm going
So I'll be, waiting (waiting)
When I'm waiting (downtown now)
I'll tell you once more
That, as long as you're gone
Then I'll say...
Outside there's no place I can hide
And your dead of time
Is anything alright
When the wind tries
Make storm walls outside
You'll be outside
I'm in here and I'll guard
Waiting, when I'm waiting
(downtown now)
I've been here before, and I don't care where I'm going
So I'll be, waiting (waiting)
When I'm waiting (downtown now)
I'll tell you once more
That, as long as you're gone
And I'll say...
I missed it
I missed it
And you'll call then I'll stay
Stay...
The All-American Rejects' song "I'm Waiting" is a song about waiting, as the title suggests. The lyrics are about a person who is tired of waiting, and doesn't care where they are going anymore. One of the lines in the lyrics is "What can you do when it all drains," which suggests that the person is fed up and has no energy left to deal with the situation. The lyrics also suggest that apart from the negative aspects of waiting, the person is also feeling empowered and in control. They are not worried about where they are going, and they will be fine on their own.
The lyric "When you walk don't leave a note, just put your hands on the back door" suggests that there is someone in the song who is leaving, and they are doing it suddenly without any explanation. The lyric "When you talk it's just a joke, just no, I can't take it anymore" further reinforces that the person is sick of the situation they are in.
In the end, the song is about a person who is waiting and empowered in their decision to wait. They are waiting for someone to come back or to leave their life, but they do not mind where they end up.
