I got places to be
I got a bone to pick with people that throw stones at me
Cause I try, I try my best
I got some mountains to climb
I got some rivers to find
Up in the trees so high, branches brake onto me
Gonna try to find myself
I got something to smoke
I got my Jack and Coke
I got my Greyhound ticket down to Mussel Shoals
I'm gonna try, try my best
Gonna try to find myself
Cause I try, try my best
I'm gonna find, I'll find myself
Cause I try by myself
I'm gonna try to find myself
I got something to say
The Allman Betts Band's song "Try" talks about the struggles of life, the obstacles that come in one's way, and the persistent effort one must put in to overcome them. The opening lines of the song "I got something to say, I got places to be, I got a bone to pick with people that throw stones at me" indicate the determination of the singer to set things straight and confront those who are criticizing or judging him. The use of the phrase "throw stones at me" is a biblical reference where stones were used to punish or execute people, indicating the severity of the criticism that the singer is facing.
As the song progresses, the lyrics describe how the singer has mountains to climb and rivers to find, indicating the effort and the journey one must undertake in life to achieve their goals. Additionally, the line "Up in the trees so high, branches break onto me" suggests the difficulties one faces even on the path to achieving their goals. Despite these obstacles, the singer keeps pushing themselves, saying "I try my best" repeatedly.
The second half of the song sees the singer referencing smoking, drinking, and traveling to try and find themselves. The line "I'm gonna try to find myself" is repeated frequently, emphasizing the idea that the singer is trying to find meaning and purpose in their life. The lyrics suggest that sometimes one must take a step back and make some changes in life to find themselves. Ultimately, the song conveys a message of resilience, determination, and the importance of trying one's best to achieve their goals.

The band nails that groove. They hug that sound from yesterday and reinvent it in Allman/Betts band. Song has the 1960’s and 1970’s vibe but played today. Man. I love this sound. My new favorite band
