Read Full Bio ↴Formed in 1988, The Almighty are a rock band, from Glasgow Scotland.
The band's music veered between punk and hard rock on albums including 1989's debut 'Blood Fire and Love', 'Soul Destruction (produced by Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor),' 'Powertrippin' (which saw Tantrum leave and be replaced by Pete Friesen of Alice Cooper), 'Crank' and 'Just Add Life.' During this time, the band played the Monsters of Rock festival in Donington, England, in 1992 and also played with Metallica at the Milton Keynes Bowl. The Almighty split up in 1996.
In 2000 the band reformed with Nick Parsons on guitar. A second album shortly followed in 2001, Psycho-Narco, with a new bass player Gav Gray replacing long time bassist Floyd London. The band soon disbanded again with vocalist Ricky Warwick pursuing a solo career.
By mid-2005 bassist Floyd London had won an unpublicised fight against Lukemia which brought the band together to play once again. The classic lineup reformed for two Lukemia Research benefit shows in January 2006, which was followed by a Headline appearance at the 2006 Bulldog Bash, then a short 5-date tour at the end of December 2006.
In February 2007 a Greatest Hits CD/DVD Anthology: The Gospel According To... was released with the full support of the band, this was followed in July 2007 with a live DVD of the Glasgow Lukemia Research show from January 2006.
The band have 'left the door open' to the possibility of future shows and recording new material.
In 2010 Ricky Warwick joined Thin Lizzy (renamed to Black Star Riders in 2012).

Eye to Eye
The Almighty Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You've been high and mighty now
For far too long
And I know the reasons why
You saw too many clouds
And not enough sky
Hoe does it feel?
How does it feel to be a problem?
(chorus)
You stoned me to my soul
Like f**king for virginity
We don't see
Eye to Eye
What will it take to make you see?
That all the bones I picked with you
Belonged to me
So where the f**k are you coming from
If ignorance is bliss
You must be comfotably dumb
(chorus)
*********
(chorus)
You stoned me to my soul
Like f**king for virginity
We don't see
So just go forth and multiply
Coz we don't f**king see
Eye to Eye
The Almighty's song "Eye to Eye" is an incisive commentary on the nature of conflict and the stubbornness that perpetuates it. The opening lines of the song express the singer's sense of disbelief and frustration with an unnamed antagonist, who, in their eyes, has grown too arrogant and self-righteous. The lines "What the f**k is going on? / You've been high and mighty now / For far too long" set the accusatory tone that persists throughout the song.
The central conflict of the song is revealed in the chorus, where the lines "You stoned me to my soul / Like f**king for virginity / We don't see / Eye to Eye" suggest a fundamental disagreement between the two sides. The use of the phrase "stoned me to my soul" evokes a sense of hurt and betrayal, while "f**king for virginity" suggests a loss of innocence or purity, as if the conflict has forever marred the singer's sense of self.
The second verse continues this theme, with the singer trying to make their antagonist see that the problems between them are not one-sided. The lines "What will it take to make you see? / That all the bones I picked with you / Belonged to me" suggest a history of back-and-forth between the two, with each side feeling wronged by the other. The chorus is repeated twice more at the end, underscoring the theme of irreconcilable differences.
Overall, "Eye to Eye" is a powerful and emotional song that speaks to the heart of human conflict. The lyrics are straightforward and forceful, and the music is suitably heavy and raw, making for a memorable listening experience.
Line by Line Meaning
What the f**k is going on?
What is happening that has led to this situation?
You've been high and mighty now
You have acted arrogantly for quite some time now
For far too long
This behavior has gone on for an extended period of time
And I know the reasons why
I understand the motivations behind your behavior
You saw too many clouds
You have been blinded by your own perspective
And not enough sky
You have not looked at the situation from a wider viewpoint
Hoe does it feel?
How does it feel to be on the other end of this situation?
How does it feel?
I am questioning how it feels for you
How does it feel to be a problem?
How does it feel to be the cause of problems for others?
You stoned me to my soul
You have hurt me deeply
Like f**king for virginity
This situation is uncomfortable and awkward
We don't see
We are not on the same page
Eye to Eye
We do not have the same perspective
What will it take to make you see?
What needs to happen for you to understand?
That all the bones I picked with you
All of the problems I had with you
Belonged to me
Were my issues to begin with
So where the f**k are you coming from
I don't understand your point of view
If ignorance is bliss
If not knowing is comfortable
You must be comfortably dumb
You must be choosing not to understand
So just go forth and multiply
I am dismissing you, go away
Coz we don't f**king see
Because we do not have the same perspective
Eye to Eye
We are not on the same page
