The band's music veered between punk and hard rock on albums including 1989's debut 'Blood Fire and Love', 'Soul Destruction (produced by Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor),' 'Powertrippin' (which saw Tantrum leave and be replaced by Pete Friesen of Alice Cooper), 'Crank' and 'Just Add Life.' During this time, the band played the Monsters of Rock festival in Donington, England, in 1992 and also played with Metallica at the Milton Keynes Bowl. The Almighty split up in 1996.
In 2000 the band reformed with Nick Parsons on guitar. A second album shortly followed in 2001, Psycho-Narco, with a new bass player Gav Gray replacing long time bassist Floyd London. The band soon disbanded again with vocalist Ricky Warwick pursuing a solo career.
By mid-2005 bassist Floyd London had won an unpublicised fight against Lukemia which brought the band together to play once again. The classic lineup reformed for two Lukemia Research benefit shows in January 2006, which was followed by a Headline appearance at the 2006 Bulldog Bash, then a short 5-date tour at the end of December 2006.
In February 2007 a Greatest Hits CD/DVD Anthology: The Gospel According To... was released with the full support of the band, this was followed in July 2007 with a live DVD of the Glasgow Lukemia Research show from January 2006.
The band have 'left the door open' to the possibility of future shows and recording new material.
In 2010 Ricky Warwick joined Thin Lizzy (renamed to Black Star Riders in 2012).

The artist is frozen with excitement because Simon, presumably their mentor or manager, has instructed them to take over.

This event was simultaneously so cool and so disappointing. The whole it falling and blowing up was amazing. However, it took way too long to get to that bit and there was never a real lore implication that came from it. It would have been so much cooler if a chunk had flown off and hit the traveller, or better yet the entire ship collides with the old tower taking out the entire wall section, this would then lead to a 6 player activity of defending the last city from the fallen just outside the wall.

@0 0 no, you are focussing on the wrong part, the issue is bungie made a sun killing space station hit the planet and do nothing. There was 0 change in the game’s story in this season. The seasons ends exactly how it began, the only difference being a slightly changed sky box. The Almighty should have done something, hit the tower wall and made it a unstable position requiring defence, or maybe the fallen are rummaging through the wreck trying to use parts to create new weapons, or even the main reactor has gone critical requiring the guardians to go inside and shut it off. The almighty did absolutely nothing, we shut it down in year 1 (and that’s where it should have stayed if bungie wasn’t going to make it do something that mattered), the cabal set it on a crash course with earth, Rasputin shoots it down, and thats all, the guardians did nothing, there was no effect on the story at all, it’s not enough to just create a 1 season threat that is a massive waste of everyone’s time. There was no point to it.
I can only see 1 possible lore implication left for it, (also answers the first part of your comment)
It has been theorised that during lightfall we will need to use SIVA to take back the light after fleeing the last city. If that is the case then they could say that the crash of the almighty broke open the vault of SIVA (the location that it hit was near felwinter peak and we know that the vault of SIVA extends that far). This would also give a reason for Rasputin to shoot it down, Rasputin wanted to knock it off course because he had calculated that it would hit the SIVA vault.
I mean bungie is completely incompetent when it comes to writing a good storyline so I doubt they would have thought of that (seeing as they only just realised they needed an entire new expansion to end the light vs dark storyline)
