Actually, it did get quite a bit of recognition, though little mention that this is actually a Danish band. Wikipedia states:
"The song debuted at number 23 on the UK Singles Chart. It then rose to number seven after its physical release. A week later, it peaked at number six, fell to number 13 the following week, then rose to number 10, and for several weeks after hovered outside the top 10 at number 12 and 13. On 24 August 2008, the song rose 14 places from 73 to 59, nearly six months after it was released.[2] The British Phonographic Industry awarded the song a Gold certification in August 2018.[3]"

In 2008, my friend Nicky and I always listened to this song when we lived in Curacao. Because the CD was stuck in the radio of my car, to our hilarity we were forced to always listen to the CD of Alphabeat. How we sang and laughed to this song. Now that she is gone, this song is a wonderful reminder of our friendship. How I miss her.

I first heard this song on a German radio station back in I want to say 2007. I liked it, thought it was catchy.
I then proceeded to totally forget about it until hearing it at Hershey Park in 2019.
