Carol of the Bells
The American Boychoir Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hark, how the bells, sweet silver bells
All seem to say, "Throw cares away"
Christmas is here, bringing good cheer
To young and old, meek and the bold
Ding, dong, ding, dong, that is their song

With joyful ring, all caroling
One seems to hear words of good cheer
From everywhere, filling the air
Oh, how they pound, raising the sound
O'er hill and dale, telling their tale

Gaily they ring, while people sing
Songs of good cheer, Christmas is here
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas

On, on they send, on without end
Their joyful tone to every home

Hark, how the bells, sweet silver bells
All seem to say, "Throw cares away"
Christmas is here, bringing good cheer
To young and old, meek and the bold
Ding, dong, ding, dong, that is their song

With joyful ring, all caroling
One seems to hear words of good cheer
From everywhere, filling the air
Oh, how they pound, raising the sound
O'er hill and dale, telling their tale

Gaily they ring, while people sing
Songs of good cheer, Christmas is here
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas

On, on they send, on without end
Their joyful tone to every home
On, on they send, on without end
Their joyful tone to every home

Ding dong, ding dong

Well, it was since it closed this year. America has trillions for war, but not enough to sustain this beauty. Very sad!

@clairekim2525

Kenneth Palmowski-Wolfe I was so sad when I heard the news! The conductor is coming to direct the LA Children's Chorus next season tho which is why I'm now obsessively watching/listening to American Boychoir all of a sudden.

@wouter064 Thanks! They're excellent, aren't they? Particularly when it's remembered that America largely doesn't have the same tradition of choir schools and 'professional' child trebles that we still find in Britain.
